The instructions do not say where to put oil, does it go in the breather hole??

NO. It goes in the crank case of the compressor. There is a plug that takes a wrench to remove to put the oil in.

When I plug my Magnum 2 HP 5 gallon compressor in, it blows out oil out of the red plug that you put oil in


Could be you are filling it too much, such as to the top of the oil hole instead of the bottom of the hole. I suggest you check the manual.

Perhaps the compressor isn't level or perhaps the crankcase breather is blocked or not working properly or perhaps there is too much piston blow-by for the breather to cope with.

If the instructions do not give you an answer to your question and you can't find any information from the manufacture I would proceed as follows. The oil coming out of the breather is due to the splashing of the oil and the heating of the parts as they work building up pressure. I would tend to believe that as long as there is some coming out there is enough oil to take care of the gearbox.
If there is a separate plug to remove to add oil to the gearbox I would use that as my fill level. I hope this helps.

AS diff breathers are only a screwed in fitting with a loose fitting cap over the opening the only way to get oil out is that the oil is not correct . Either up past the fill plug hole in the front of the diff housing or the oil is not 80-90 oep oil. Lighter oil will froth up and bubble out of the breather

77 shovelhead w joe hunt mag and s&s oil pump everything is great except after about 20 mins of riding oil start coming out of gasket all around cam cover and mag assembly dont know what would cause...


There ae a number of things it could be. What it sounds like to me is that the oil is not being pumped back into the oil tank and is collecting in the cam chest. It should be blowing out of your crankcase breather tube as well if your crankcase breather tube is open. Behind the oil pump, there are three holes. One is behind and above the oil pump. This is where the breather tube from your oil tank and the primary comes into the engine. The hole directly behind the oil pump in the middle is the oil return line from the very back end of the primary where the oil from the primary is recirculated back into the engine. The bottom hole behind the oil pump is the crankcase breather. It should have a hose that runs back around behind the transmission and just dead ends in a bracket pointed towards the final drive chain. This hose should be open to vent the crankcase pressure. Have you checked to see if oil is being pumped back into the oil tank? If not, the scavenge gears of the oil pump may not be pumping the oil out of the engine and back to the tank. If this is the problem, you may not have the drive key properly installed in the scavenge gears of the oil pump. Still, oil should be pouring out of the crankcase breather hole. But, this is what it sounds like it's doing to me. The oil is building up in the cam chest for some reason.

My 1982 yamaha seca 650 has too much oil pressure I just bought it and it is blowing the oil cap off the person that I bought it from drilled holes in the cap now it sprayes oil out of the holes any idea...


There should be an oil breather tube on the left side of the engine leading the airbox. Make sure it's there and cleared out. If the previous owner removed the air box and put on pod air filters, he may have plugged the breather line.

Also, check your oil level. Use the sight glass - only when the engine is off and the bike is level on the center stand. The sight glass is on the clutch cover - right side, bottom of the engine. There is a mark on the glass showing the correct level.

Compressor really doesn"t take oil


if this is a belt drive system, the oil fill is on the base of the compressor side, it is usually a small knob with two bumps on it, designed to open with the fingers or a pair of pliers. you don't pour oil in the breather pipe, some folks put a little oil in the air hose, but its better to put oil in the tool.

hi,the filler plug should be about half way up the diff housing,about a 19mm plug from memory,refill to the bottom of the plug and that will give you the corect oil level..cheers

Where is check ball valve on my 1982 electaglide


The check ball valve is in the oil pump. When you look at the top of the oil pump, the check ball is under the innermost threaded plug, the low one, not the high one. You will have to drain the oil tank before you remove this ball. Take out the plug, the sping, and use a magnet to remove the ball. Buy two new balls, they aren't expensive.
Now, drop on of the new balls into the hole. Take a brass drift and a hammer and gently tap on the ball. This will reform the seat that the ball sits in. Remove this ball and install the other new ball, spring, and threaded plug. Refill the oil tank.
Then, remove the crankcase breather line from the rear of the air cleaner. Plug the hole in the rear plate of the air cleaner. Purchase one of the small breather filters (/V-Twin #40-0352) and put it in the end of the crankcase breather hose and relocate the breather underneath the bike.
