Question about GE DSXH47EGWW Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dsxh47eg0ww I am wondering if I need to replace the control panel of my GE electric dryer, model number dsxh47eg0ww. We have cleaned lint filter inside by removing trap and vacuuming way down in, disassembled and cleaned ducts... not a ventilation issue. It doesn't have a consistent error code. Sometimes it will start for a minute, then turn off and all the lights on the right side of panel will beep 6 times, other times it will run for 5 minutes then beep 3 times. We ran a test for an error code, then it beeped 9 times and the start button blinked 5 times after that, but that error was not even an option. Wondering if it sounds like a control panel issue and if a 5 year old dryer would be better off replaced than repaired. Replacement is about double the cost of new control panel. How long do these dryers last on average?

I would replace parts. It still is cheaper than a new unit. So get the new control panel and do it yourself and save money. The average life of a dyer is dependant only on when the owner gives up. I just serviced on last week that was 25 years old.

on which setting are you running it. If you are running this on the timed setting then its obviously a faulty timer. Sounds to me though that you are running it on its automatic cycle. If this is the case it could be a couple of things. Somewhere on ur beast there is a moisture sensor, this is what advances the timer and tells it to stop. This may be faulty or it could be that ur vents are indeed clogged which would trap the moisture in and result in the long dry times. The simplest way to go about this one would be to clear the air flow and see if the problem persists.( this means pulling out the dryer clearing all the vents, if using the flexible ones make sure they are not binding up while setting dyer in place. Also if there is a vent that runs through the wall as well you can clear this by removing exterior vent). good luck

Hi, It sounds like the coils on top the gas valve are bad. If the ignitor glows but shuts off before a flame, the coils need changed.
I hope this helps. If I can assist you further, please let me know.

How do I clean lint from inside GE Harmony Profile Dryer?

You have to remove the panel. The assume the lint filter works better then they usually do and do not make it easy to open up and clean inside. You may have to open it from the back side which does open up to allow repairs, etc.

With no lint anywhere around the dryer the thing to check if havent already is the venting itself to see if outside it is blowing and not restricted or blocked

The control is sensing poor air flow and throws up the "clean filter" when air flow is restricted all be it from the filter clogged, or blocked/restricted vent

Dryer will not come on

is it gas or electric and it would help if you sent the model number,if the filter is on top, unplug the dryer, pull it out, take off the vent line and remove the back panel,to the right of the duct that the lint filter slides into and near the bottom you'll see a white thermal fuse part number 3392519,pull at least one of the wires off and with a meter see if it's open,if you get no reading it's open or bad and has to be replaced.if the filter is inside remove the bottom panel, pull out the lint filter, remove the duct that the filter slides into and on the top right hand side you'll find the fuse there,it might be a 3390719 but you can check it,again pull a wire off and check it with a meter, while you're in there clean out the duct that the filter slides into and vac out where the motor is,then if the vent line is a long run blow it out with a leaf blower, the dryer is running to hot from all the lint and if you don't clean it the fuse will pop again.if that's not the problem send the model number so i can see what's in your dryer

There is a reminder light to "Check Lint Filter" near the lower right of the cycle knob. It will come on every time the power button is pushed. After cleaning the lint filter, if the "check lint screen" light does not go off, it is likely that the touch pad control will need replacement.

Verify 240vac at dryer. If the element is not broken and the power is present then you will ave to trace out the circuit. Check the termostats and the timer contacts, remember you are working around 240 volts and if you do not have the training and skills it would be better left to a technician.

Maytag performa Keeps blowing Thermal Fuse. Vents are clean. Cleaned entire system. Seems to heat up as soon as dryer cuts off.Changed control thermostat as well. Can get one load and replace fuse.

something is still plugged with lint,if the vent line is long blow it out with a leaf blower to clean it out,you have to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,if the filter is on top remove the vent line, remove the back panel, remove the lint filter and the two screws in front of it and remove the four screws and clean out the duct,if the filter is in front take off the bottom panel, remove the filter and clean the duct, also vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,when the dryer gets to hot the thermal fuse pops as a safety so you still have a block somewhere

Ge DRYER dpgt750EC2PL back wall of drum gets very hot. Occassional smell as if something starting to burn. How do I open the top lid to get inside to find out problem

This may sound a bit over simplified but when a dryer starts to get hot inside it is a sign of an airflow problem.

Start with the outside vent flapper. Check to see if there is lint build up on the flapper / louvers.

Pull off the vent hose and check for lint build up. If the vent hose is a flexible plastic hose they have a tendancy to clog with lint in the sprials and then the lint contines to build up until airflow is restricted.

After checking external vents and ducts next remove the lint filter. If you use dryer sheets wash the filter with white vinegar to remove the build up. It may appear clean but the material from the dryer sheets clogs the filters.

In the area around the lint filter check the ducting / air passages for lint build up and clean it.

In the process of all the cleaning do NOT use anything sharp. A vacuum crevice tool and a Looped metal coat hanger do wonders for cleaning assistance.

Before you reconnect the dryer vent try running the dryer with a light load of anything wet to see if it drys properly with the vent disconnected. After that reconnect the vent and repeat the same drying test to see if the drying times are close to the same.

This should solve your hot dryer problem.. If it does not then respond here and we can talk about taking your dryer apart.

Thanks for using FixYa.
