ok, the dyson hasn't been working very well for a little while, but I've dealt with it,, no i've figured the problem out. The roller brushes spin rapidly but I can stopped them easily with my hand,, this would be why it's not picking up anything, beacause as soon as they hit carpet they basically stop.. what is the solution?
when I take the plate off the belt seems to be very tight.
Can you follow the belt to where it goes around motor shaft or does it disapear through a hole in the casing ?
If it does disapear then your machine has A clutch.
The clutched Dyson machines have 2 belts One is motor to clutch the 2nd is clutch to brush roller agitator.
You will need to replace 0ne or both belts if you have the clutched machine.
Now if you can see the belt going around the motor shaft you havent got the clutched type just replace this belt regardles of if you think its ok.
If you need further help please look at this site has manuals.
try taking the plate off again and make sure the roller is in it's proper slot. mine did the same thing when I took the plate off to clean hair and the roller came out of the slot on one side. it has to fit perfectly.
