Hi hutchie4,

Well, the bad news is that the a1010y doesn't come with a AGP or a PCI-X (Express) but you do have 3 PCI buses that come on that motherboard. As long as one of the buses are free, then you can purchase a PCI Graphics card. Depending on what you are looking for the graphics card to do, ie games, or Video movies, or just all around more speed on your screen, you can find PCI cards for each type of function. HERE is a place to explain what would be a good choice in Cards.

Good Luck,

Please provide a rating based on this Solution.

Thanks

Trying to find a cheap HDMI graphics card to put in. Any suggestions? Also, is it necessary to upgrade the power source?

This particular computer has an PCI-E slot available for a graphics card upgrade (provided that it doesn't already have one in there).

You should be okay with not upgrading the power supply, unless you're looking to put a really beefy card in there.

Something simple, that'll have HDMI on it and will have no issue driving HD content would be best in the realm of a Geforce GT 720. It's $50 on NewEgg.

Hope this helps!

What graphics card is compatable for hp d530

I'm not going to go through a list for you, but I can tell that you don't have many options. The HP Compaq Business Desktop D530 uses a small form factor which means you don't have the same space as normal desktop users inside of your machine for the vast majority of display adapters. You would need at least a medium form factor for that.
The other problem is that your power supply is only 185W and can't supply the the amount of power needed for most desktop class display adapters.
The machine you are using wasn't designed to ever be used for gaming, and it shows. You would need to get a bigger computer case and higher watt (around 400 to 600 watt) power supply to support most desktop display adapters.

Upgrading vs. New PC?

I took a look at the specs for your Desktop PC... It's far outdated, so I wouldn't hesitate to replace it.
I just happen to be a bit of an expert in this field, and I'd advise you to avoid buying from a retail manufacturer (which is nothing more than rebranded hardware). If you're interested, I do have a service on here to provide help getting you the perfect Desktop PC (or even Notebook/Laptop if you'd rather go that route). My fee is cheap, and I'll surely save you more than that. Either way, no matter what you decide, be sure to research anything you buy before you do. Let me know your budget and we can go from there, if you're interested. But to answer your question, again... Yes, it's in your best interest to replace the system. (Your motherboard only supports up to 256 mb of ram, and that is older form factor, plus it won't even come close to the system requirements to run any modern Operating system.)

I hope this clears it all up for you. Have a great day, and let me know if I can help any further.

I have installed windows 7 on p5vd-mx and it is not working fine what is the solution

This board may not support Windows 7 unless you install a video board with 128 MB or more of graphics memory. The onboard video appears to be only 64 MB. The main memory should be at 4GB even though Windows 7 will operate at a minimum of 1 GB(very slowly). I would first run the Microsoft Windows 7 Advisory software to see any compatibility issues. If it was my decision, I would get a new ASUS motherboard certified for Windows 7 with DDR3 memory, a 1GB graphics card, and a 1TB Hard Drive. Upgrading to Windows 7 requires a computer upgrade in most cases.

I bought an Ultra LSP 650w power supply (upgrade) for my HP a1150y and it won't even boot up (fans come on & thats it). If I put the old 300w (oem) PSU in the PC, it works but it won't meet the power...

if thats wat the specs say then thats most probably the max youve just bought one thats to powerfull, and y did you need so much power the most powerfull graphics card in the world needs a 750watt power surpply, your computer is probably not designed to have major upgrades, and by looking at the specs i can see that your computer well putting it simply is **** for upgrading the specs are **** (no offense intended) i suggest upgrading to a whole new computer if you want that sought of power and graphics

I want to know if my monitor is Vista compatable

Yes, the monitor is Vista compatible. A monitor is just a display device, simply showing you what's coming from the computer's video card. That video circuitry is what would need to be compatible with Vista.

If you are upgrading an older computer by installing Vista, you might need to be concerned about video hardware compatibility. If you are upgrading by simply replacing the computer with a new one, it will already be Vista ready. In either case, the monitor will be fine.

Please take a moment to rate this solution if you've found it what you need, and thanks for asking here!
