Question about RCA DRC6355N DVD Player/VCR

3 Answers

Split screen When the dvd is playing there is an icon which shows a yellow square with a black triangle and a yellow exclamation point within thetriangle and the letters PSCAN below it. There are two pictures divided by a verticle black line; the audio if fine and the picture quality is fine. How do I remove the icon and get one picture? I have looked in setup but as the screen is so divided I am not sure that all the options show; I have tried all the various buttons on the remote and on the vcr to no avail. I have tried to see if there is a problem with the tv set up and it is fine when the vcr is not on.

Re: split screen

To the answer from guest Sept 01, 2007 You are totally awesome! I just did what you said--turn the progressive scan button on the back of the DVD to off--and it works. The direction manual should maybe write that in. The cable guys couldn't give me an answer; the radio shack guys couldn't give me an answer. Only you. Zivjeli (which means Cheers in Croatian).

Re: split screen

Not sure if you are still having this problem - I just figured it out, have the same unit/trouble. There's a switch on the back of the player for progressive scan - you need to turn it off. Cheers!

DVD player is black and white and screen is split

Make sure the player is compatible with your TV broadcast standards. A Pal player will show b&w pictures when connected to a NTSC tv and vice versa

I found the manual for this dvd player online. There is a switch on the back of the player. PSCAN is Progressive Scan. Some TV's are not compatible with this function so the switch must be turned off. This worked and I was watching a dvd last night!

DVD plays as a split screen on my television

On the Insignia remote control:

- press power on
- Open disk tray
- click set up button
- click the arrow button pointing left
- press enter
- click the arrow button pointing up
- press enter
- press enter again

I got this off of a website yesterday evening and figured I'd give it a try. Well, it worked. The screen went back to it's original state and the PSAN error (in the middle of the screen) disappeared.

Split screen

It appears that it has something to do with Progressive Scan been turned on. Progressive Scan is a feature built in your dvd player, wich by using it, it would give you a better picture//resolution on your tv, you need to use Component or HDMI cables to hook up the dvd to your tv if you want this settings, but if you are using composite RCA cables (Red,White & Yellow) and the Progressive funtion is turned on by accident, it may give you a split screen, black & white, or no picture problems. Also if you are using Component (Blue, Green & Red) cables, if one of them is unplug, the picture can be out of colors, or no picture. Check this things, if not, write back with more details about your set up.

2nd screen not working

So I had the same thing and I was pretty upset because Walmart wouldn't take it back!  So, I don't know what inspired me to do this, but I simply switched the yellow and black plugs that go in between the screens.  So plug the yellow connector into the black hole on both screens and then the black connector into the yellow holes.  Now it works perfect.  It still doesn't work if I try to switch it back.  Weird, but you might as well give it a shot, it worked for us!
