i have never used this camera be for... i can't get the flash on and i am not sure how to down load to my pc

My 9 y.o. rec'd this camera for Christmas & we can't figure out how to make the flash work, or how to download via USB connection. Photos will download from SD card to PC, but when save option is offered, error message indicates that ea. photo is either corrupted or unable to be processed due to an invalid or unrecognized file extension. The camera came with no software, and my pc automatically uses the Windows XP, or Adobe Photoshop, or Fujifilm photo software to download. HELP!!! What next???

WizAfter looking for awhile I found a link to the user manual to your camera. Here it is:

You will need adobe reader to view this, you can download off of this web site if you don't already have it.
You'll see a link to download the pdf version on the left of the site.
