I have recently purchased an Apple Mac and a Canon MP830.
The Mac seems to have problems with the software that is provided.
Through a combination of downloading what I can from the disc and the internet I am able to print but the documents are very small and only take up approx. 1/4 of an A4 page.
I have had some success by telling the print setting I am prinitng to A3 but the text is still small and the page is still not fill - i.e. this is a quick fix but far from ideal.
I have not been able to implement the scanning software.
Since both purchases are new, I don't believe I can be the only problem customer.
Welcome any advice on either of these issues.
First, what application are you printing from?
Some applications (TextEdit for example) modify the size of the print job (scaling) to fit the size if the window on the screen. So, if I open TextEdit and type "THIS IS MY TEXT" and print it, it's fair. If I resize the window to full screen by clicking the green circle and reprint (with no other changes) the text comes out minute.
If you've only tested one application printing, try another.
Another bit of printing information in Mac OS X: You can manage printers in a different way using your browser and pointing to this URL:
I use this to print a test page for printers, and it's a good test for your situation because it does not involve the print dialog settings. Just find the printer you use and click the "Print Test Page" button next to it.
Does it come out the correct size?
Please let me know if this helps.
I purchased an MP830 a couple months ago and used it with my old G4 MacMini. The printer installed and worked fine.
A week ago I purchased a new Intel MacMini. I have installed both the driver from the software CD and also tried a newer driver from the Canon web site(4.8.2). Neither worked. Watching the print queue one would see the job start and then simply stop.
I removed these and installed Gutenprint-5.1.3. It worked for a day and then stopped. I tried various combinations of reinstalling and restarting both the computer and the printer, and both the generic and Canon drivers. I was not been able to get Gutenprint to work again.
A few times I got USB error 64.
I finally tried changing the USB driver to USBTB 1.0.15 but it does not have a driver for the MP830. However it allowed me to manually select the MP830 Gutenprint driver and this combination seems to be working.
Both Gutenprint 5.1.3 abd USBTB 1.0.15 are available at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1537.

There is no driver for your printer to work with OSX. It was for Windows OS only. AND Apple does not support this particular model either.Link below list support printers by Apple OSX> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
Yes, it is compatible with Mac OSX- http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx330#DriversAndSoftware is the source for your drivers. There is an optional bluetooth module, however there is no sign that there is a 802.11G connection for this printer
Have a look at the canon usa site:http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=17160#DownloadDetailActThis link should take you to the canon support page, let it load and it will come up with the driver download center. In the area titles "Driver/Software Selection"Use the drop down menu and select "Mac OS x"This will bring up a list of current drivers for the Mac.The most recent one for the your printer is:MP480 series Printer Driver Ver. 10.6.0.0 (Mac OS X CUPS)If there is also a problem with your scanner then you will also need:MP480 series Scanner Driver Ver. 14.8.1 (Mac OS X)Just make sure you look carefully before clicking the driver as there are also spanish versions on the list..I hope these help.Mike

The MP830 does not include the ability to do Wireless Network printing. You can however, connect this printer to one of your Windows or Mac PCs and share it on the network, which is wireless, therefore accomplishing the same thing.
1) Install the Drivers and Software that came with your Printer. 2) Go to the Control Panel > Printers & Faxes 3) Right-click your printer and click "Sharing" 4) Choose Share this Printer, and give it a name. 5) You can then on, use the Add Printer Wizard on any other Windows PC and install it by searching for network printers.
Step 1 is the same for Mac 2) Go to System Preferences > Sharing 3) Check the box for Printer Sharing 4) Any Mac on the network can see it!! 5) Added treat: go to http://apple.com/bonjour to install bonjour for Windows, using this software you can print using any Mac printer on any PC
