Dryer not drying clothes

Hello, does the dryer drum turn? If the dryer drum is moving. Is the dryer blowing hot air, cold air, no air at all? Now, if it's doing everything mention above escept blowing hot air then you'll need a new heating element. If not blow air, then the drum belt is broken, belt off, or the drum motor has gone south. It was put for a quitt. Which mean in New Mexico, they fired me, I don't work, no job, finished, I'am out of here, don't bury me with my wires exposed. I hope I was some help to you. have a nice day and be safe, GB. stewbison

The blower on my dryer needed to be replaced, I replaced it. Now the dryer gets hot very quickly, but is not tumbling. The belt looks worn but is still intact. I don't know anything about dryers! Do I...

If the drum was turning or if the blower caused it not to turn before you replaced the blower make sure the blower and the motor will turn maybe didn't get something back right. Did you clean all the lint or anything out of the blower housing and the vents. Recheck the idler pully and be sure the belt is threaded right. I have seen this happen and drum would't turn. If it's getting too hot sounds like the air is not getting pulled through the drum or the high limit is not shuting it down when it gets too hot . Check all thermastats and the high limit cut off. You can check them with a ohm meter. Check and see if you can turn the drum by hand.
Hope something here will help you.

My dryer's drum doesn't turn

The dryer probably needs a belt. You don't give the brand, but this link may help you. It shows how to change a dryer belt in Whirlpool models, and these are very common. It's a pretty simple job you can probably do yourself and save the cost of a service call.

Whirlpool Electric dryer type-DWJR-ELE-2406028-FM54. model LER7646JQO the heating element get very hot. the dryer does not turn on. the drum does not turn either.

If the heating element is getting very hot that means there is no air flow across it. If the drum doesn't turn then the blower is not turning causing the element to get very hot. Could be drum belt, drum rollers, or motor.

It gets hot but doesnt dry

you will need to remove the front cover,by removing 2 kick panel screws at the base of the front of the machine, remove front cover and make sure blower wheel is turning,if so,then remove any heating ductwork and vacuum out all lint, this sounds like a restriction inside the machine for air flow

Dryer will not produce hot air. What could be the problem? I opened the back panel and there is a square shaped box that was hot. Is that the heat element?

The heating element should be nearly the diameter of the drum and is generally round. If the box of which you speak is about 4 to 6 inches square, it is probably an electrical connection box and shouldn't be getting hot. If this box has a removable cover, unplug the power cord and remove the cover--look for loose connections. If all ok, replace cover. Does the drum turn? Start the dryer and check for air blowing from the outside vent. If not, check for plugged lint filter (wash with hot water and detergent) and lint plugging the flex-hose between the dryer outlet and the outside vent. After running for a little while, feel the back of the drum to see if is generally hot--if so, then the heating element appears to be working. Hope this helps.

Ive got a hotpoint electric dryer that intermitantly blows hot other words sometimes it wroks while other times dosent blow that much needed hot air to dry clothes..ive tried different things like...

Sounds like the drum is not turning under heavy load.this is a common problem with dryers but usually easily remedied if a competent diyer. first check the theory by putting in big load and see if drum turns. if not then replacing capacator should cure it.

Clothes not drying

A couple of possibilities to check. First, is the lint trap empty? If so, then the symptoms point to hot air bypassing the drum. Look for broken or misaligned plastic ducting inside the dryer itself. Check the exhaust air for moisture, as that is a better indicator than temperature. Don't forget that towels hold an enormous amount of water, & can be extremely long in drying, especially if not spun enough.
