Try changing your DNS settings on the PS3 or on the router
Changing the DNS on your router:
Go to 192.168.1.1
Default password is: admin
Static DNS1: 208.67.222.222
Static DNS2: 208.67.220.220
Those DNS setting are from OpenDNS
After doing this, reconnect your PS3 to the router and set it to Automatically adjust the settings. Once you have reconnected, check if you are still having the DNS problem.
If you are still experiencing the problem, try changing the DNS directly from the PS3
Go to Internet Connection Settings and set everything to Auto except DNS
When asked if you should set the DNS automatically, choose "Manual"
Input the same DNS settings:
Static DNS1: 208.67.222.222
Static DNS2: 208.67.220.220
DNS error occurs when your internet connection is fluctuating and your PS3 console was unable to detect an active internet connection. This is not a problem with the PS3 System as it much more of your ISP or internet service provider which is disconnecting.
Try entering all your info manually, Disable Auto IP,DNS and DHCP on your PS3. If that does not work, many help gurus claim that entering
4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 will work, NO GARUTEE
First chek your cables to make sure they're tight. Then test the internet connection in the settings. Restart ps3 and it should restore internet connection. If not, Cable is not working or is damaged.
Goto the command prompt bar in the start menu type ' cmd ' then click o.k . A black dos screen will appear type in ' ipconfig/all ' and it will the the two servers you need under dns servers but if your doing a wired connection to your ps3 then you need to manually configure your dns on the custom method of setting up your internet connection on your ps3 as if this is auto config that will give you a dns error. Hope that helps ,I can go into more detail and guide you through it if need to .
get your own internet connection. dns error means it's not able to connect to the internet. if it is your own connection, restore your default settings and powr cycle your internet. check with your IT and check your network firewalls/settings
make sure you have a stable internet connection, DNS error means that the internet system cannot translate a name into an IP address and that normally means that the data feed going from your internet connection to the Playstation is going in and out and it cannot complete the upload of information required to access the internet, the problem most likely lies in your router or modem or any other wireless signal producer and it is very unlikely that it is related to the bluetooth connection in the PS3 itself
Unstable connection. if you have wireless connection that could be a problem depending on your environment. Try turning off your firewall too by calling your internet server(Comcast,DSL,etc.)
