Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

1 Answer

Picture om my Sony Triniton suddenly went very bright. The on light flickered. Now we simply have ghost-like images in black and white - rather like a pencill drawing. Any ideas? - set about 7-8 years old.

Possible bad picture tube-would have to check voltages on CRT
socket circuit board.......T.

Note: always good idea to give your set model number.

My vpceb32fm i have display but no light how can i fix

If you can see a "ghost Image"on the laptop monitor in a bright light, the backlighting isn't on, the backlighting is switched on/off by a tiny switch near the hinges of a lartop. Sometimes will stick closed due to damage, dirt, dust, loose hinge ,etc. Also, due to a drop, bump, jar, etc. the ribbon cable on the back of the monitor may be loose. OR the wire is damaged/pinched the supplies power to the backlighting. OR the CCL/LED/ whatever backlighting your laptop has is out.

Increase in brightness & sometimes switch to "negative" momentarily

he Dell I'm using also has an adaptive brightness, regardless of the fact it does not have a light sensor. It just changes brightness of the screen depending on how much white/black is shown at that moment. Whenever I switch from a very dark to a very bright website I notice and increase/decrease in screen brightness. I'm running Windows 7 by the way.
Good Luck

How do you remove the white areas of a shot from flashing black when you look at the image?

What you're seeing is blown-out highlights. These are areas of your picture where the bright stuff (highlights) have been so overexposed (blown-out) that all detail has been lost. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but usually is. The proper fix is to reduce exposure slightly. Lost details in the dark areas are usually considered more acceptable than lost details in the bright areas.

If you simply don't want to see the blinking black/white parts of your picture, simply press up/down on the multiselector to select a different view of your picture.

When tv is turned on picture flickers really

When it goes black can you see a ghost image? It will be a normal tv picture but very faint black and white looking, you may have to get close and look at an angle to even see it. If so that means your backlight system is failing. If you don;t see an image then it is a problem with the power section of the board inside the tv.

Check if it is covered by warrenty and get a quote if it isn't. A 42 inch is new and big enough that it should still be worth repairing but it may cost you anywhere from $100 to $250 depending on the shop to fix.

Sounds like the screen control which is usually mounted in your high voltage transformer (Flyback) has opened up. Stargazer

WEGA 36" : Screen is low contrast and green

Sorry to say, it sounds like a bad picture tube, But could be also the capacitor that filters the screen voltage on the crt drivers. In all my years though, your complaint has been the picture tube. Good Luck.

Picture - Flickers/Shimmers

I think the solution to your problem is adjustment, not of the brightness but either the `contrast' which is probably too high, or the `sharpening' if your set has this function. Too much sharpness will cause a shimmering effect, especially where you see an edge between colours.(due to ringing at a very high video frequency). Too much contrast can start to turn the video signal upside down, causing noise on the peak white in the picture. Another cause is if the RF signal into the aerial socket is too large, This can be corrected by an attenuator, costing about £2. 6dB or 10dB can be tried.
