Re: door light stays on...

The door light is controled by a switch that is mounted inside the body of the shredder and is operated by a bayonet type of prong that is attached to the door itself. The most likely causes are: the bayonet attached to the door has come off and the switch never is closed. The other possible is that the switch which is adjustable in most units has gone out of adjustment. If you look at the door and follow the bayonet's path, you will see a slit in the front of the unit the the bayonet fits into and if you look under the slit the screws that adjust the switch, one of which is in a slotted opening. Loosen the screw and pull the screw toward the front of the machine and that shouls cause the switch to be activated when the door is closed. The other possibility is that the switch is bad or the circuit board that the switch connects with is bad, and that's going to take the services of a qualified technician, and that means money. However, the simplest is ususally the switch. Let me know if this helps. Aloha, Bill Monroe

OM96144, The Door Open light will not turn off, so shredder will not run. The door is closed tightly.

It sounds like the safety switch on the door has failed.

You will need to have the safety switch on the door replaced.

There is another option but it is not recommended as it will bypass the doors safety mechanism and requires the switch wires to be cut and connected to complete the circuit.

You should never play with anything electrical as it can cause serious harm and / or death.

So I would recommend you have a qualified repairer look at it.

I hope this helps.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

Best regards,

OfficeMax (0M96431) Shredder\r\n ATTENTION LIGHT STAYS ON SOLID -... Answer Failed: retry attention light stays on solid - won't take paper in or go into reverse - have emptied bin, cleaned... (More)...

Have the unit serviced by a office machine technician. This sounds like there may be a problem in the gear drive, which you will not be able to access or repair.

I have an Ativa AT120DC. It won't operate

I have an Ativa AT120DC Shredder. When it is switched to auto there is dim green light and it doesn't start. If I feed paper in it makes no difference. For some time it always started up when you switched it to auto and didn't wait for paper to be fed through. If you remove the basket the Door Open light comes on. can you help?

Basket ajar light stays on even when the door is closed. How do we get the light to go out?

The door sensor could be bent or broken. There is also a thin piece on the door that pushes the sensor switch. Check to see if it is broken. Try pushing a thin object into the sensor **** opening and listen for a click.

The empty basket light stays on all the time

Try cleaning the bin full sensors. located on both sides of your machine, inside the bin, under the cutter head. If that does not solve problem, you need to replace bin full sensors.

I have the 2602 model and the indicator for the door being open stays lit even when the door is closed is there a way to fix this

Yes. There are two electromagnetic sensors (front and back). If defective, the main board will show a yellow or red light. These sensors function with the cabinet which is magnetized in the center (front and back).

Bin light is staying on and we cannot shred any paper. The shredder does not appear to be jammed anymore. what can we do?

check underneath to see if the bin full flap is working.
First, uplug from power. Look underneath and see if you have a flap. If you do, then make sure it's quiet and move the flap back and forth. You should hear a microswitch click.
If you don't have a flap and the hopper is removeable, make sure hopper is installed properly.

GBC Shredmaster 5260X - door is closed by light indicates otherwise

This shredder has a magnet built into the door. If you open the door you'll see a metal strip on top right side of shredder. Either the magnet is not getting close enough to activate the reed switch or the hinges have came loose allowing a door sag condition. Also, if the shredder isnt that old, just contact GBC for some warranty work at 800-790-7787

Because your shredder shred almost to dust level. you may have paper back up inside the machine. you will not be able to see it unless you remove the head and open the cover. Or your main board could be bad. You have one main board that controls your shredder.

At this time, the machine maybe reading as full because the paper backup inside the machine.

you have few screws that holds the base and the top cover.

Good luck.

email me if you have problem

This is known problem with Hsm125...
