DVD door will not open

I have a Magnavox 4-head VCR/DVD combo. The VCR plays fine. The DVD door will not open with the remote or manually. I have tried to see if it is stuck shut but I have not been successful in getting it to open. It will stay in DVD mode for only about 1 minuet then it switches back to VCR. HELP!

Re: DVD door will not open

I had something similar. Try this: press stop on the remote for the DVD; then remove the tape in the VCR, and the door should open.

The VCR has at least four "heads" two are for 2 hr and two for 6 hour (sp and slp)

I have a magnavox mwd2205 dvd/vcr combo with no remote. I've tried programming it to my Charter cable remote and to a GE universal remote, but can't get it to do anything but turn the machine on and off....

This DVD/VCR isn't compatible with the GE Universal remote. Sorry.

I would recommend contacting Magnavox (actually FUNAI CORP.) at www., and seeing if they would be willing to send you a remote that was compatible with your player. There was another Magnavox player remote that also worked with Magnavox MWD2205. So it's possible that a number of remotes would work for you. Good luck! :)

I record a DVD from VCR tape and try to play on another device

In my research, I learned about finalizing the DVD, which was a new concept to me. I looked that process up in the manual and it did the trick.
