our window unit stops working and flashes E1 on the display - when we press reset it starts again - for a while

- I have the same problem, the unit will work for a minute or so and shut down and flash E1. I have no manual and don't know of anyone who has the same unit. Please let me know what to do to correct this problem- bcronin58

I wrote the solution #1 and have an additional comment. This really does work!! I fixed my neighbor's AC unit by following the instructions for clearing the E1 code.
