Cannot get access to Water pump to clear it.

I think the water pump is blocked but don't know how to get access to it to clean it out. The user manual shows a picture of a removable cover where the filters are but my model does not appear to have this, The manual also has an asterix which says some models only on the water pump section. I have also checked the outlet pipe and there appears to be no blockages so concluded that it is the pump blocked. How can i clear it?

Thanks Krazytech, I cannot see how to access the water pump there appears to be no internal access to it from within the machine as it has an all plastic bottom with no screws. Assume access is from outside but cannot see where, can you advise?

  • wattsy Aug 25, 2007

Thanks Kraytech, the model number is SGS43C12GB/15 manufactured in feb 85.

Hi there, sounds like I have a similar problem! My dishwasher will not drain water but it isn't blocked because I can blow down the outlet pipe. Do you know how I can take off the plastic bottom so I can get at the all the different bits? Or can I do anything from inside - but there doesn't seem to be any access. Thanks for any help, Kevin

SGS43C12GB/15 was the model of mine. I got access to the pump by putting it on its side and taking the bottom panel off, but be carefull when lifting the bottom away as there is a piece of polystyryn foam that rests on the bottom of the panel and I think supports the float mechanism. It is not held in by any fittings and is held in place by the weight of the float mechanism. Mine fell away as I took the bottom off, it was not a problem to put back in but I had to make sure it was the right way up...so when you take the bottom panel off do it slowly so you can see which way is the right way up for this foam bit. Once you have the bottom off you can see the pump easily, it was held in by some easy clips and easy to remove and clean the pump out, mine had a piece of elastic band which was stopping the propellers turning. Once cleaned it works perfectly again. Hope this helps

I have a bosch classixx dishwasher and it is less than 5 years old, it was working well untill 48 hours ago and now has water at the bottom which will not drain away. Is there any way of evacuating the water without taking the machine apart.

    Presumeably the pump needs cleaning..

I too have water at the bottom and the filters don't seem to be blocked. But how do you access the pump? The model is Bosch SGS43C12GB.

I wouldn't recomend taking a dishwasher apart unless you know exactly what you are doing.
Taking the spray pump housing off to clean it out can be very tricky.
If you do manage to do it you will need a new jubilee clip for the heater box.

HI I think you should take the waste pipe and blow down it you'll need a bit of puff, there's also the possibility that the waste pump is blocked with debris you will need to take it apart to clear it failing that a new water pump may be necessary or if your lucky you can access the pump by tilting the machine after removing the mains lead and the water pipe inlet there should be an isolation tap attached to the water pipe good luck in your task cheers eric

Hi, My Bosch Logixx 8 is showing error F18 which I think means the filter is blocked. we have lost the manual so how do you get the filter out. Do we need to drain the machine first? Is there an online...

F18 is either the pump discharge is clogged or the machine is oversudsing. If it is oversudsing, make sure that you are using an HE detergent and use less detergent. (Make sure to note the minimum detergent line

To clean out the pump discharge, have a bucket ready for when you release the hose. First, set the cycle selector to Off and unplug the washer. Open the service door and remove it. Next loosen the screws and remove the protective foil. Remove the emptying hose from the holder and take off the cap. Drain the water from the hose. Replace the cap. Then carefully remove the pump cap and drain the rest of the water from the pump. Clean out any foreign objects from the area (housing, threads of the pump cap, etc). Make sure that the impeller can turn. Then replace the pump cap and tighten the screws (the handle should be vertical). Replace the emptying hose and the foil protector. Replace the service door and plug back in. Then fill the dispenser II with 1 liter of water and then start the Drain cycle. Let this water flow through to the pump.

The manual is available from Bosch. Go to http://www.bosch-home.com/us/WAS24460UC.html?source=search and click on Additional Documents . Then click on User Manual. This will redirect you to the correct page. Select your specific model and the language and click on the manual with the IU designation. The pictures to go with the clogged pump are on page 9 of the PDF.

The filters that can get blocked are in the water inlets. To clear those, turn off the water to the washer. Select a cycle and press Start/Pause. Wait 40 seconds then set the selector to Off. Unplug the washer. Then remove the inlet hoses. Clean and replace the filters at both sides of the hose. You will need pliers to remove the filters from the washing machine side. Then reconnect the hoses and check for leaks.

I hope this helps.

Need to clean pump of bosche logix 1600 express. How? Need manual too. It keeps beeping at me ''Pump blocked?'' and I have to drain it into a bucket.

Do the following.

  1. Switch off the machine, unplug or disconnect the mains power to the machine and turn off the water supply to the machine.
  2. Remove the access panel on the lower right front of the machine.
3. Remove the filter and make sure that the filter is not blocked and is clean and clear of all debris. Clean as required. Note that depending on the machine type you may get a lot of water coming out of the filter when you remove it if the machine has not drained successfully. Note that if the machine has stopped and not fully drained then you may be able to drain out the excess water by removing or disconnecting the waste hose and laying it on the ground in a tray. It may take a few minutes to empty but it will save a small flood.
4. Proceed by checking the drain hose for proper connection and kinks and make sure that it is not blocked.
5. Also check that the main waste drain pipe, if you use one, is not blocked and clean if required.
6. Reconnect the power and switch the machine on.
If the problem persists then do the following.
7. Switch off the machine and disconnect the mains power.
8. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure it is operational.
9. Remove the connecting hoses, and expect water to drain out and make sure the pipes are not blocked with debris or any object blockage.
10. Makes sure the pump appears clear and that the impeller looks in good condition.
11. Reconnect the hoses and then reconnect power and switch the machine on.
12. If problem has not been corrected, then remove the pump and check that the drive coupling to the motor is OK and that the motor turns OK. If all is well then replace the pump.

Pump is item #23 and filter is #24. The main pump is accessible from the rear or under the machine.

We think we overloaded the machine with bath mats and since then the water did not drain and the machine does not work any more. All buttons are flashing.

your pump is totaly clogged with the math matt sand
you should be able to access the pump from the rear wall,
bring towels you will loose water

remove both hoses from the pump and ensure they are clear, wash the drain hose completly run water through it

make sure you pump is clean and free
to spin

reassemble and and plug back in

errors should clear

Pump outlet is blocked

it was difficult for me to access the pump; so i connected the outlet pipe to my vaccuum cleaner and it did manage to get water out, but the moment i took the vaccuum cleaner out the pump was ineffective on its own. so i repeated this about 10 times and then the pump blockage was cleared and it is able to work on its own again.

Not Pumping out water

Possible your outlet filter is blocked. After disconnecting electrical input from wall socket, remove the back panel of washer to see if the pipe from the tub is blocked, clear, also check the outlet filter, clean. If u have the users' manual check how to clean your outlet filter
