Deskop or Laptop seems to be a contradiction >????
The num lock (number or numeric lock) can become annoying if
you tend to accidentally hit the num lock key on your laptop and turn it on or
off.
Disabling the num lock completely involves editing the
system registry.
Before performing such edits, always save and back up your
computer information in case you make a mistake, as the system registry
controls many aspects of your computer's operation.
Once you have disabled the num lock on your laptop, you must
edit the system registry again to re-enable that function.
Close all windows and programs that are running on your computer.
Press the "Windows" key and the "R"
key simultaneously to open the "Run" dialog box.
Type "regedit" without the quotation marks, then
press "Enter."
Click the "+" symbol next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER,
then select the "+" symbol next to "Control Panel."
Click on "Keyboard."
Double-click "IntitialKeyboardIndicators."
Enter "0" (the number zero) in the "Value
Data" field to disable the num lock after logon, or enter "1"
(the number one) to disable the num lock entirely.
Click "OK," then close the registry by clicking
the "X" in the upper right corner of the registry window.
Restart your computer.
To re-enable num lock, follow the same process, but change
the "Value Data" to "2."
