Won't operate when using it with car adapter

It sounds like a fault to its power transition section circuit. Actually, this circuit is built inside the mother board to your laptop.

I've had a lot of issues w/ the operation of my MIO C320, including this problem ... but ONLY whenever I tried using any other mini-USB cords (like from my phone or Garmin GPS chargers), with my MIO C320. There's something unique about the mini-USB pin-out configuration MIO uses that allows you to either charge or update their units (using the transfer function), using MIO's supplied mini-USB cables. (I've labeled my MIO cord as "MIO GPS", on a piece of masking tape wrapped around the cord.) I'm trying to recall whether the MIO's cords worked properly w/ all of my other devices, and I can't think of any that did NOT function properly. So, maybe you could experiment and - if that's the case w/ your devices also - avoid further issues by keeping JUST the MIO's charger in your vehicle?. Sorry this is so late, but I hope it helps! If you are using the lighter plug for charging it may have a fuse inside the plug itself the plugs into the lighter socket,,,,,look for a fuse there or if have a volt meter check for voltage reaching the unit when plugged that way If voltage is good to the unit from the car source the battery may be bad, either not getting a voltage for charging or battery not holding a charge.

If the battery won't charge and the laptop won't turn on but the ac adapter works with other laptops, then the problem is the port where you plugin the ac adapter. Some of the laptops has it built in to the motherboard. So you might need to have it repaired by a technician. Or if the laptop is still in warranty, you might need to send it to the manufacturer to have it repaired or replaced. But if the laptop works without the battery, or it will turn on but the battery indicator is not lighting up, you're facing one of these problems.

From your description, your A/C adapter (power charger) is faulty and needs to be replaced. Look online or at a local shop for a replacement. Targus manufactures a good A/C adapter. Check to see what adapter works with your laptop.

Three reasons. 1. The charger is bad. 2. The Battery is dead. 3. The charging circuit is faulty. To check each Use a different charger or use a different battery. If both are fine then the third fault is confirmed.

You have to have an ignition switch on, only then to connect a device. It is to protect device against an electric shock.

1. Try and check the voltage output of your adapter using any ordinary voltmeter. It should have a voltage reading close to the dc rating printed at the back of your laptop.

2. Even if you have problem with battery, the laptop should power on. Otherwise, if both battery and charger is working fine, then there is a problem with the charging circuit that is built-in on the laptop's mainboard.

If charger is defective, then its more practical to buy a new one instead of sending it or repair. Repaired chargers can cause more problem for you in the future.
