For some reason whenever I turn the unit on the main screen that says streetpilot comes on then the saftey warning not to use it while driving then when you click ok it goes back to streetpilot 2620 and keeps making the same circle. Is there any way to reset the unit. I know by holding down certain buttons while turning the unit on you get different screens is there any way of making it read and display maps again
I did update to the 4.8, and worked for about 10 minutes, and then went back to the old routine of booting over and over, and will not except map. I think I might sent it back to garmin in a few days after I get to tired with it.
I would like to know the same thing! My father has the same unit and he updated his with version 4.80 & web updater (both free) on garmin and it solved his problem. I believe my problem is that my North America v8 did not install properly. ????? well see

To calibrate your Streetpilot c-Series touch screen, follow these steps:
1. Begin with the unit turned OFF and unplugged from a power source. 2. Power the unit ON, continue to hold the Power button for 1 minute. 3. A screen will display instructing you to Press dot in the lower left corner. 4. Release the Power button and touch the sequence of dots until your unit displays, Calibration complete. 5. Your unit should now function normally.I hope this helps. Please rate my reply. Thank you.
Hold down PAGE, MENU, and FIND then turn unit on to perform a Master Reset. That might do the trick.

Yes. There is one more mapset and then there will be no more for us using the StreetPilot 2620. You are looking for the disc set North American Navigator 2009. Make sure you do not purchase the NT version. I found the item on EBAY for $81and purchased it and it worked just fine. The 2009 is the last compatible map set that Garmin released for the 2620. Be certain that what you purchase includes that unlock key otherwise you will spend another $75 on that at the Garmin Unlock Site.
Here is the link that is good for a few more days, however, may relist it. The seller is yumelectronics and the search term is 2009 City Navigator.

calibration screen come up that will recalibrate the GPS unit.

This is a safety feature that comes turned on by default. While you are driving, you cannot enter new directions/information as it is unsafe to do so. The unit normally asks you if you want to override this at the time, but you can also turn it off while stopped by pressing the icon at the bottom of the screen that looks like a wrench. Then press "System" at the top middle of the unit. Where it says "Safe Mode" press the "On" key. At the next screen, press "Off." The unit will now allow you to enter information while it is in motion.
