D drive is usually the CD/DVD on most computers. C drive is your hard drive.

SOURCE: hi i have samsung hard disk SP0802N

If you are clicking on opening and is not opening and also explore and is not bringing anything try opening it from Start >> Run>> then type in the format either E: or F: if didn't open then the hard disk as been attack by virus which will need to scan with anti virus then retry opening it.

kindly rate this solution..

SOURCE: The hard disk in drive D: is not accessible

I recently had this problem. Whenever I clicked on any of the drives a window appeared with warning which said drive not accessible. Access is denied. Previously I thought that it is a virus which has edited my registry and is not allowing me to enter or even view my content. So I formatted the whole system but that didn't help. Now I am sharing this with you.

  1. Open My Computer. Goto Tools>Options. Goto View Tab Pane. Uncheck the last Option in the Advanced Setting which says Use simple file sharing(Recommended). Apply the setting.
  2. Open the properties window of the drive you are unable to access.Goto Security tab pane.
  3. Goto Advanced.
  4. Now click on the Owner tab pane.
  5. It's very rare that the ownership of the drive changes. But it happens once in a while.
  6. So if you are the user say Admin then select Admin(ComputerName\Administrator).
  7. Click on the box which says Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and click over Ok.
  8. Apply the changes.
  9. Now you should be able to access the drive.

SOURCE: my freecom external hard drive is not being recognised by my PC

Hello

Okay , so there are some steps to figure out what is wrong with your external.

Firstly , if your computer makes a sound when you plug in your external , go to Start-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Disk Management , and see if your external drive is listed here with your local drives. If it is listed , right click on the drive and change the drive letter to make it appear in "my computer".

If your drive does not make a connection sound when connecting to your computer and also does not show up , please follow the next step.

Remove the hard drive from the casing if possible and install it in your computer case or another external case.If the drive works , the problem is with the casing and you can ignore the drive.

Now , if the problem is with the casing , there are still 3 possibilities.

  1. The USB cable between the drive and the computer may be damaged.
  2. The circuit board which connects your drive to the interface of the external may be blown.
  3. The power supply (if applicable) may have a blown transformer.
The latter is the easiest to diagnose , does your external light up at all when you plug in the power? If not , then this is probably your problem. On the bottom of the adapter is a label which you will be able to use to have a new adapter made at your local electronics shop and this will cost about $30 max. They will also be able to test the adapter with a clamp meter to see if this is really the problem and this should be free.

The second component you want to test is the USB cable. If you have a printer , swop out the cables and see if your printer functions normally. Most externals use the same connector so you should be able to test it in this manner. If the cable works go on to the last step. If the cable is defective , replace it with a new one which you can find for about $10 at most electronics and chain stores.

The last component to test is the circuit board. This is a bit of a grey zone as you probably won't be able to spot the blown component unless it failed really badly. With the casing already opened , locate the external's circuit board and check to see if you have any blackened components or fluids leaking from some components. If all the other components of the external worked perfectly , then this is the faulty part. It is not really economical to replace the circuit as most of the time it is out of production by the time you need to replace it and it still costs a lot even if it is available so if your drive is working perfectly when connected via sata or IDE on your computer , the best is to buy a new casing and place your old drive in the new casing.

A casing costs about $50 and you could get it at most tech shops and big chain stores like Best Buy.

I hope this solves your problem and please reply if you need more help.

Kind Regards
Andrea

Computer Local Disk (D:) D: is not accessible Error performing inpage operation

what is local disk D:? can you press the windows key and the R key at the same time, and then in the run dialog type diskmgmt.msc. go to the d: drive and find out what it is. is it a seperate logical drive used for recovery? is it possible it's a card reader slot? you could always try and just unmount the drive in windows via diskmgmt.msc and see if lets you.

How to erase the hard drive on the acer aspire 1?

Double Click on My Computer, then Right Click on the C: Local Drive and select the option to Format. Remember formatting erases everything so I hope you have an operating system disk to reload. Why format?? If your system is bad and you have an operating system disk, then when you reload from it you will get a newly formated disk. But again you'll lose all your docs, music, pictures and any programs you've added since you bought the computer.

My local disk D: is not accessible and become raw, how can i fix it? i am using windows XP,please help

Its a little difficult to understand what you mean in your description. What I will assume is that you have already tried to format the disk and it wither won't or can't even be seen. If this is the case try configuring the disk in Disk Manager first. This link will guide you
