Re: 32 color

You can this in display properties on desktop you can set it to 16 or 32 bit. But there may be another problem ie., if you have not installed the display driver software if it is not packed with your windows. install the driver from the driver cd provided when you bought the pc.

Ntvdm cpu encountered illegal operation Hi all! I just installed Maya 2010 from a torrent file and since then I got this famous error message. It's just appeears as three command prompts appearing at the...

If I am reading this right your issue is not the application but where you obtained the application. Maya 2010 is a modern design application and comes in 32 & 64 bit versions. It is not a 16 bit application.

When Windows encounters a legacy application it calls the NTVDM for the legacy application to run in.

The fact that the application is calling the NTVDM is highly suspicious. NTVDM is the NT Virtual Dos Machine, a way for legacy applications to run in NT environments.

NT environments are Windows NT 3.5, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP (Home, Pro & Media Center Ed), Vista (all versions) and Windows 7.

Old (legacy) applications written for 16 bit date back to Windows 3.1 and include Windows 95, 98 and Millennium Edition.

I would obtain a copy of Maya 2010 from a reputable outlet instead of Bit Torrent as "warez" frequently contain malicious items that will infect and ruin your machine.

How can i upgrade my 16-color to 32-color

Are you referring to color scheme? If so, you should be able to right-click on an empty space on the computer desktop, choose Properties from the menu that appears. Then, in Windows XP, choose the Settings Tab. You should see a drop down menu on the lower right titled Color quality. In the drop down menu you can choose 16 bit, and should have a selection for 32 bit. Select the 32 bit, click Apply. Then the screen should change to that setting and ask if you want to keep those settings. Select OK and you should be good.

Themes are not working

I can just guess , as there's not much information, I wonder if you have changed the graphics adapter settings from 32-bit to 16-bit ? or have chosen an alternate theme ?
right-click desktop and select personalize
click window color and appearance
click open classic appearance
select scheme and apply .

if you have a independent graphics card please go into the menu and make sure it's set at 32 bit color . good luck

Video driver for Dellm770 with Dell Optiplex110 - running Windows98

video si dependent on the video card you have. WIn98 is capable of 32 colors, therfore, you need to get a video card that is capable of giving 32 bit color.
as fa as digiital pic, you need at least 32bit if not 256bit. which win98 will have a hard time to comeup with.

I think it is time to upgrade.
