My father has a Dynex LCD TV, Model DX-37L130A11 Rev A, sticker says 10H07-Rev A. Manufactured August 2010, Lot #: 205204 XHT 100453. A few days ago he said the audio started emitting a loud, cracking...

It sounds like you've done quite a bit of troubleshooting, which I applaud you for doing. Have you tried power cycling the TV? Simply turn off the TV, unplug it (and any components connected to it), then plug it back in and turn it on after a minute. See if this corrects the issue. If it doesn't, then I would recommend calling our Product Support team to schedule repairs at:
U.S., Canada, & Puerto Rico - 1-800-305-2204
Mexico - 1-888-882-7326

When I sit down to watch a movie my system sound shuts off after 3 min. I get up and wiggle the svideo cable and the sub powers back on and is ok for another 3 min or so. it repeats the same chacteristics...

The cord you are wiggling is not an S-video cable, it is a Mini DIN 8 connector. Both S-Video and Mini DIN 8 are the same type of connector, (DIN) except the S-video is a Mini DIN 4.
I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, perhaps you could enlighten me with some more info? Have you changed any audio settings in the menu lately?
First, try unplugging your sub from the power for 30 secs. Then plug back in.
Then unplug one speaker (doesn't matter which one but keep track of what you've unplugged) from the sub, wait the 3 mins and see if it shuts of again. If it shuts off again then plug your speaker back in and repeat this step with another speaker, until you've found the culprit, or run out of speakers.
Let me know what you find.

The problem that I found with the mms 171 is the sound control function knob. When I took the component apart and took a closer look it appears the unit may have over heated a bit, I found some discoloration on the circuit board. When after I played with the reluctor wheel a bit it started to work again. I'm thinking what is going on is the unit heats up and warps the metal brush and it doesn't make contact any more. A simple fix is to take apart the knob a gently push the brush back down on to the circuit board (see picture)">

Detecting dvd drive. biostar P4M900-M7 SE One day i smashed my pc , coz of a blue screen, stating bump in phyiscal memory. HAD IT FOR 2+ YEARS. And maybe i still have it, but anyway, i took it all apart,...

Hi Tom,
I suggest that you use the one marked IDE1, unless you have your hard drive on that port. I assume it's one of the sata's. But, make sure that your DVD drive has it's pin's set right. If it's going to be the only DVD drive on the machine, and your hard drive is a sata, then make that DVD drive the master pin set, if your Hard drive is a ide drive, then make sure that your hard drive is set to master and then your dvd will be set to slace. If you place the hard drive on the white slot, and the dvd drive on the green or colored slot, then you can choose cable select on both drives. But when you make it Master and Slave it doesn't matter which IDE you use, the pin tell the computer what is what.

Good Luck,

NO AUDIO/set up problems

For this Sony, you have to use separate audio cable(s). Either optical in BD or Digital Audio in DVD (single coaxial cable will do the trick) I bet the display says UNLOCK. I had the same problem, very dumb.

Good day!

This was posted a while ago, so I'm sure it's probably been solved by now. For anyone with audio issues using this or any other Lifestyle system: If you experience audio problems (no audio, intermittent audio) from more than just 1 source (especially if it involves internal sources like DVDs or the radio) then just reset this by unplugging the power for about 30+ seconds from the bass module and the media center DC power. Check the audio input cable (multi-pin din going from the media center to the bass module) for bent pins.
If this doesn't solve the problem, you could try replacing the input cable, but those are usually pretty robust. You could call Bose at 800-367-4008 for tech support or to set up a repair if this fails.

Sound cuts out.

I had the same issue with the front right speaker randomly cutting out. Thought it was a loose solder joint however upon taking it apart i found that something near the back panel was shorting out. While apart i found that wiggling the rear panel would cut in and out the speaker. Also the fan would turn on when the speaker worked, which until i took it apart i didn't know it had a fan. I removed the back panel by taking out several screw the hold the cable plug-ins. once the panel was out i insulated it with electrical tape then used a utility knife to cut out all the cable connector holes. I also took out a couple screws on the main board so i could lift it a bit from the back and ran electrical tape over the solder point for the speaker connectors. Put it back together and haven't had any cut out's since. I now notice that the fan now runs all the time exept when i press mute. I also hear a single tap noise for a second when i mute or turn off the receiver. I can certainly put up with that though. Hope this helps someone else, I put up with the speakers cutting out for 6 months before i got around to taking it apart. Also those bannana plugs are a rip off, I went to future shop to buy them and couldn't beleive they were 25.00 for two pair. That would mean it would cost me 75.00 to do my 5 speakers. Thats more than i paid for my dvd player. anyhow i didn't buy them and just used bullet connectors, pack of 10 for less than 5.00, not made of gold but they work fine.
