Question about NetGear WG111T 108 Mbps 802.11g Wireless USB 2.0 Network Adapter (NETWNGWG111T)

Cannot connect to wirless with adapter on new computer

Just bought a new Dell PC running Vista (64 bit) and wanted to get access to my WiFi in my apartment. So I bought the Netgear WG111T adapter but cannot get online despite numerous installations and I have noticed that the light on the adapter has not come on at all when plugged in - it does not seem active.

Although this model appears to support Windows Vista according to the manual for it (ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WG111T_UM_04Feb07.pdf) the 64 bit version is not mentioned and, therefore, probably not supported. I'd take the wireless adapter back and find one that supports Vista 64 for certain. Some do.

Below you will find 2 options to add wireless connectivity to your desktop.
A. USB Wireless LAN
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&category_id=6638&nf=44907%7e0%7e598274&sort=-ratingaverage&~ck=anav
This is the easiest solution to add a wireless connection. Simply connect the USB adapter, install the software it comes with and connect to the wifi signal, once configured.

B. PCI/PCI-e Hardware Wireless LAN
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&category_id=5821&nf=44907~0~598274&sort=price&~ck=anav
Adding a PCi/PCI-e expansion card requires opening your computer and manually installing the card, then installing the driver/software and configuring the wireless access. These cards typically offer faster speeds and stronger radios to communicate with wifi signals better.
NOTE: There are 2 types of wireless cards in the second link: PCI/PCI-e and Half-Card/Mini-Card. Half/Mini-Card adapters are for laptops only - they will not work on desktop computers!
Both USB or PCI/PCI-e offer excellent solutions to getting wireless access from your desktop. Furthermore, since it can be purchased through Dell.com, they can ship anywhere worldwide, so delivery to the Netherlands should not be a problem.
If you have any questions, you can always contact Dell's Customer Support by telephone and be sure to give them your service tag number, that will ensure that you get only the parts that match your desktop.

I can't see any wirless network, when i search for them.i installed all intell and dell driver . plaz solve this problem.dell latitude D800

Hello,

The first thing that I would advise you to do is,

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System first,

(For WIndows XP)

Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties-->Hardware-->Device Manager,

select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

(For WIndows Vista)

Right-Click on my computer Icon, go to

Properties-->>Device Manager, select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will also bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

After this, Press your Wifi button on the system and ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should connect like that.

Try this out and kindly let me know how it goes,

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Goodluck

I bought a new laptop from Dell. My old on is a desktop from Dell. I have a Belkin transfer cable. It is asking for a transfer key number. what is that????????

Please note that your cable will support below givne O/S check at your end.

One destination PC running Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit) and available USB port

One source PC running Windows® XP (32- or 64-bit) or Windows Vista® (32- or 64-bit) and available USB port

For Example two Pcs 1 is Xp and other pcs is Windows 7, then try to connect between both .

Another one more option is there for transfering the data between two systems either laptop or Desktop by a cross cable (LAN CABLE), buy a cross cable from shop and insert into RJ45 Socket (i.e lan socket) the try to transfer the datas.

Can I get a replacement AMD wireless card

Try this first before you give up...any usb adapter will work by the way....just keep the windows wirless utility as your main wireless software.

Windows WiFi Fix,

Windows Zero Wireless Configuration is one of the best programs to run a WiFi in Windows XP or Vista. Most of the other software packages that come with the different adapters have been poor at best in keeping a connection through Windows. Here is the best guide to get you back up and connected.

Windows XP:

Click Start
Right click on My Computer
When a window pops up click on properties
Click on the Hardware tab
Click Device Manager
Click the [+] next to Network Adapters
Find your wireless card and right click on it.
Click Disable
Windows may warn you that disabling the device may make it stop functioning.
Continue disabling the device.
Wait 30 seconds or so.
Right click on your wireless again and click Enable.
Exit the device manager.
Reconnect to your router.
You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Windows Vista:

Click Start Logo
Right Click Computer
Click Device Manager
Windows will ask you about opening Device Manager

32 bit IE won't connect to internet in Vista 64 bit.

32 bit programs, last I checked, won't work in a 64 bit operating system, just as 64 bit won't work in 32 bit operating systems.

If 32 bit programs will work in a 64 bit OS, they probably won't work properly.

IE 32-bit browser need to run on my 64-bit browser

Hi buddy323,

You will find the 32 bit browser on your Vista installation disk. Or your restore CD from Dell.

If you can't find it there, you can download it HERE. Or may want to go for the IE version 8.

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating.

Thanks Mark
