the power for lighting comes from the ceiling junction box. usually the blue (lighting is connected to the black inc oming power along with the fan ( black). I would check the light pull switch on fan. There is no capacitor on the lighting side. Since you did not give more info on model I just selected d one. Usually you can but a switch at home centers.

Look for 2 to 3 screws at the top edge of the fan's ceiling cowl. Remove those and the ceiling cowl can be sled down, which will expose the the ceiling mounting bracket . They are fairly small head screws, so look carefully for them.

1. yes, with the proper rod, longer wires(3,4) and the blades must be over 2.5 metres (8 foot) above the floor.2. you need the proper type box; the mount/s and ball; the longer wires (3,4)with slender but connertors; and especially the safety pins, etc. with the proper rod, the fan will hang straight. and about 3 chock hours to do this here task. hope this helps.
