Look for a grounded wire on the ignition switch or a break in the wiring leading to the fuse. Wiring system on motorcycles are a close system with only the battery being grounded to the frame. Any loose connections or breaks in the wires that will allow the current to jump to the frame with cause you tons of fun.

Sounds like a bad wire arking against medal. Look for the bad wire and tape it or replace it.

From another forum,
"You've got an exposed hot wire somewhere in the power circuit that's
grounding out and causing resistance in the wire. Not sure how to help
on this one, electrical problems are damn near invisible, but I'd start
looking for a burn mark or scorched insulation on any of the wiring
leading up the relay, starter, or main fuze block in the tail."

you have a short somewhere in the ignition line. check all connections at coil, check for worn spark plug cables grounding on block.
