SOURCE: blows ignition fuse when key is turned on

Look for a grounded wire on the ignition switch or a break in the wiring leading to the fuse. Wiring system on motorcycles are a close system with only the battery being grounded to the frame. Any loose connections or breaks in the wires that will allow the current to jump to the frame with cause you tons of fun.

SOURCE: Ignition Fuse keeps blowing

From another forum,

"You've got an exposed hot wire somewhere in the power circuit that's grounding out and causing resistance in the wire. Not sure how to help on this one, electrical problems are damn near invisible, but I'd start looking for a burn mark or scorched insulation on any of the wiring leading up the relay, starter, or main fuze block in the tail."

EU 7000is. Why does it blow 3 amp fuse as soon as I turn on the key?

Hello. It seems there is a 'short' circuit in either the 'run' circuit of the ignition switch and/or in the fuse box. Positive polarity (+) is touching negative polarity (-) somewhere for to 'blow' the fuse; maybe in the device that is blowing fuses. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

How to prevent electrical short

Paul
Somewhere there is a short circuit allowing the current to flow straight to earth on the engine or the frame. Blowing a 10 amp fuse means this is a very heavy current so do not be tempted to either fit a higher rated fuse or bypass the fuse. Almost certainly this would cause burnt out wiring and possibly start a fire.

This happened when you switched on the ignition and before you pressed the starter on one occasion. On other occasions the bike has started before blowing the fuse. This suggests that perhaps wiring with damaged insulation is making and breaking contact.

You said you have a new battery. Is it possible that during the fitting of this some damage was done to the wiring? Do you have a meter or can you borrow one? See if you can find out where this current is running to earth without replacing the fuse. ie check after the fuse with a meter.

At times like this it is good to have a friend that is an electrician to help you check.

Good luck.

My 2006 suzuki eiger is blowing the 10 amp fuse for starting the engine

your shorting .. make a good visual check first looking for corrosion or suspect wires..then if need to, unplug much of the circuit only leaving enough to turn the engine, then if still goes then you have narrowed down to that circuit. then bypass start switch by crossing starter relay, if that ok you know wires to switch the prob.. plug back 1 thing at time and check... hope this helps

Can a bad voltage regulator cause the main 30 amp fuse to blow?

Usually a bad regulator will only cause problems with charging...
Sounds like you've got a short somewhere in the wiring...I'd start by checking the ignition switch wiring and the connections going into the fuse box.

Honda ES6500 blows 15amp fuse as soon as the key is turned to "ON" tested starter with a jumper wire, works fine. Took the control box apart found nothing unusual. Removed ignition switch found...

hi
I think the problem is on when the key is turn to rotate and to engage the starter motor and it at this point that the cable curring the current on to the starter motor it then the fuse gets blown , in my opinion this cable is shortening across the chassis causing the fuse to blow, or when it get to the starter solenoid a faulty solenoid absorbs accessed electric current causing the fuse to blow

Help my fuse is blow!

If the amp blows fuses only AFTER you send remote turn-on voltage to the amp, the amp probably has blown output transistors. To eliminate other possible causes, read through the following page.
