Log in as an Administrator, and install it, if you are not an Administrator, go ask the Administrator to download it for your or, give you permission to download it.

Windows 7 won't allow me to download Itunes. After a long download, and a long install, I get a message telling me that I don't have "administrative permission" (or something like that)

For PC's you need the password of the main account to let you download programs. If you have a password you use to log in to Windows use that. If that does not work, use the parsswords of other users on the computer.

You didn't mention the Make, Model of computer or what OS you have? 32 or 64bit version? You can find new and old versions 32 and 64 bit here:, The 64 bit version is under RELATED DOWNLOADS.

Cannot install iTunes 9. During installation it comes up with this error: Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareClasses.m4bOpenWithListiTunes.exe Verify that you have sufficient access to that key...

If you are running WIndows Vista, right click the file to install iTunes and select RUN as ADMINISTRATOR.
If running XP, you may have an account permissions issue that could be caused by several issues (Group Policy, SPyware, Corrupt profile. If you are an administrator account on the system, try creating a new account and see if program will install. If it does, your profile has issues. If it doesn't I'd try a malware scan.
If is also possible that your security software is blocking the install it you are Running McAfee or Norton Security center applications

Firstly, the most important thing you can do is keep up-to-date virus protection-either a paid program like "Mcafee" or a free version, (which I'm not sold on but better than nothing)like AVG.....available here:

Ad/spyware blockers are important tohave as well.

How long ago did the problems start? a day or 2?
You could first try system restore.
"start", "all Programs", Accessories", "System tools", System Restore", "Restore My Computer to an Earlier time", and select a date before your troubles occurred...note that this WILL remove any PROGRAMS or UPDATES you have downloaded in the meantime, but NOT any files that you have created or docs you have edited, pictures added, etc.
Hopefully "system restore" is on and hasn;t been disabled by whatever is causing your problem (which is often the case).
If this works...great...go update your antivirus, etc.
If Not, try booting in safe mode...."Restart", and hold "F8" as soon as the screen goes black for the reboot, select "safe mode" and try running a virus scan from this mode.
You colud also try downloading (in regular mode) something like "spybot searcvh and destroy" to try and find your Problem> You can get it here:

Hope this helps...good luck ;)

Installing itunes onto my windows vista

What error shows up? How does it fail? Are you having problems even downloading it? If so, how do you know that you can't install it?

You should be specific and detailed with problem descriptions if you want specific and detailed answers. Please try to work as hard as we are. This isn't an oracle. Get back with us.
