SOURCE: enable wireless card and key number pad

To turn wireless on (or off) press the Fn and F2 keys together.
To enable (or disable) the number keypad, press the Fn and "scroll" keys together.

Here is the online manual for your laptop:

How to enable a wireless connection on a laptop

LOL, hit the FN key and hold it down while you hit the function key (F1 thru F12) that has the wireless signal on it. The icon will look like )))))

Once you Press and Hold the FN function key then hit the correct key with the wireless icon ))) you can look at your lcd screen and it should say Wireless On or Wireless Off as you toggle by hitting the key.

Also make sure the wireless switch that is either on the side or front of the laptop is on if your model has one.

What function keys do I use to get a wireless connection?

Have you tried using the function keys? There is a row of keys at the top labeled F1 though F12, they also have symbols. Find the one that looks like one of these, press and hold the function enable key that is like at the bottom of your keyboard and then select the button you found in the top row.

There are three ways to toggle the wireless switch on/off, 1st, Fn + wireless button (F2 or F5), 2nd, the wireless switch on the side of the laptop, 3rd, it can be enabled or disabled under BIOS setup (Tap F2 when turned on the laptop).

Wireless on my compaq c60 is disabled but i cant find a switch to enable it. Can i use function keys and if so which?

I am unable to find a photo of your laptop's keyboard, so I cannot be certain which function key will enable your wireless adapter.

However, most laptops are very similar, so this solution should work for your problem.

1) Locate the secondary function key (probably labeled "FN") on your keyboard.
2) Locate the key which controls your wireless adapter as a secondary function. It will have the following image on the key: http://cdnsupport.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2007/Phantom/WirelessIcon.gif
3) While holding the FN key, press the wireless key
4) Your wireless adapter is now enabled. If you are still having wireless issues, the problem was not that the hardware wireless adapter was disabled.

I have the latest K42F laptop from Asus and when i press the function key to enable wifi, it doesn't connect, the emblem comes up when i press the function key, but the reception reader stays the same with...

The key your pressing will only enable the Wireless NIC. You still need to look up your wifi SSID in the Windows settings and connect with your password. Look for wireless icon on the bottom right of the display in he system tray. Double click or right click and select connect to a network.

Wireless not working

Make sure the wireless pickup for the laptop, integrated or separate is installed properly and is enabled. The laptop should have a function key (check your manual) like "FN". Pressing this key and usually a function key (F1-F12) should tell you if the wireless function if built in is enabled. If the wireless pickup is USB or a PCMCIA, check the installation again and make sure the hardware is compatible with each other. It's usually not a good idea to mix vendors like using a Linksys router with a Netgear pickup.
