Question about GE JBP65 Electric Kitchen Range

1 Answer

GE modelJBP65G V2AD hitchen range

The last time my wife used the oven she had it on 350 degrees in bake mode. After it preheated the preheat light and beeper went off. After she had cooked the roast she had in she turned all the knobs to off and the bottom/bake element in the oven stayed on. The only way I could get it to go off was to pull the breaker. I would like to know if it is the timer, element, or what. I dont mind trying to fix it buy I hate to guess at it. Any help would be appreciated

I cleaned the oven self clean, now the oven preheat feature won't turn on

I don't know what kind of range you have or if it is gas or electric. You may have to call a repairman.

My Jenn Air JGS8850 takes over 10 minutes to preheat to, say, 400*. Is this normal?

In a word...Yes !

10 min. is actually a really great preheat time. I have many customers who would kill for that kind of preheat, most are between 15-20 minutes minimum to 350 degrees celcius, especially with the introduction of hidden bake elements in the last 10-15 years.

Hope that is helpful,

Good Luck :)

My GE Profile Spectra oven is taking approximately 10-15 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees and does not seem to fully bake food as per instructions. It takes an extra 5 to 20 minutes to bake anything. ...

18 mins from room temp to 350 is factory standard,
you may need to calibrate the range, most now adays come factory set at -25 degrees for safety
depending on your model number in your instruction manuel should be a part about recalibrating it sounds like your about 25 degrees off

KitchenAid gas range superba not reaching/registering right temp.

Always preheat your oven and let it cycle at least 2 times. Your unit may show 350 but the manufactures know that it is not 350. When it registers preheated, it really means that it is at an acceptable temperature to start cooking. If you think that it may not be calibrated correctly, your owner's manual will have instructions on how to recalibrate your oven. You will be able to raise or lower the temperature by + 25 degrees or - 25 degrees. As far as the gas smell, you will from time to time smell a gas smell with a gas oven especially if you are right at it when it ignites. If you are smelling gas when it is not in use then you should be extremely concerned.

Items are not baked all the way through

Put a thermometer in the oven to see how the temp is vs what you set it at. If temp is off by more than 25 degrees replace the oven sensor. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

Temperature control

sounds like a bad bake ignitor(uneven heat, long cook times, long preheat times, perhaps even gas smell while cooking)

Preheating Oven

Cold Stove, you may not be able to. The issue here is that oven manufactures put on their units a fast preheat. However it isn't possible to preheat an oven for 7 to 9 minutes and bake short time bake items properly. Also the oven sensor will respond faster than the absorbation rate of the sheet metal in the oven liner. To preheat an oven properly takes 15 to 20 minutes before putting in the food. I see this will a lot of current ovens. Sounds like a normal format of the control.

Oven takes up to 25 min. to preheat

I would suggest looking at how long before the bake burner ignites. If taking longer than 5 minutes before it ignites, then you are looking at a possible bad ignitor. The ignitors just don't last more than 5 yrs with regular use.

Preheat taking long time

If your oven has the hidden bake element then it is probably working properly. A standard oven with an exposed bake element will usually take about 12-15 minutes to preheat. The hidden element models take a little longer but they usually heat a little more evenly.
