Goodman ckl36-1e Something fell on the unit outside and broke the top, so the fan is disconnected from the top of the unit. when the ac is turned on, the fan blades hit the sides of the unit. could i simply replace the top part connected to the fan which holds it in place, or do i need a whole new unit?

SOURCE: ac fan on, blowing air, but not cold

Check outside unit if unit and compressor are running feel the large line to see if it is cold. If compressor is running and line is not cold possible charge problems. You may have a capacitor problem outside. they go out quite often. You can change this yourself, Open up outside unit and the cap is the silver bullet with terminals out the top. Bad cap can cause compressor to not operate and also the fan. You need to clean the coil inside or at leat check the coil to see if it is clean. You can clean theis with a toilet brush do not go against the coil bit brush with the fins. You may need to call a service tech but try these options first. russ

Look at the contactor on the condensing unit, remove the low voltage wires to the contactor and turn on the system. If the low voltage fuse doesn't blow, replace the contactor.

SOURCE: Goodman 3 ton outside unit fan not blowing

Motor, wiring and/or capacitor. If the sticker on the side of the motor isn't burned off you can get the motor info off that. Model numbers from the motor do little for locating the motor but my help. Best thing to do is get the AC motor specs and look up online (cheapest) or go to a motor shop. The specs you need would be as follows.
Horsepower-Such as 1/4 or 1/3
Voltage-Most likely 240/1 (240vac single phase)
Rotation-CW/CCW looking at the shaft end of the motor
Amps
Frame size

Fan not working on my CPLE36-1C AC unit outside. Why?

Hello Tim First Turn the power off! Try to turn the fan blade with a twig or something. Is it tight ? It should turn freely. If yes open the cover where the wires connect & check if the capisitor is expanded or leaking if so replace that with the SAME one (uf value&volts).Check for burnt wires also. The capicitor is a round or oval shaped can (looks like a large battery) with wires cliped/pluged in on top.Next let the motor cool off 1 hour and restore power.Does it BUZZ for a short time then stop?If yes its new motor time.Good luck

No AC

Turn off power, if this is a complete outdoor unit, remove the blower door Turn Unit back on see if the blower motor is working. If belt driven belt is loose or off, if direct drive and the fan is not working, its possible the capacitor is bad or fan is bad.

If fan is operating, then either a damper is closed, something is obstructing the duct or it is at to low
of speed.

I have a goodman Air conditioning unit CKL49-1. The fan motor connects to the top lid. Recently the metal cracked and broke and the fan fell down inside. I purchassed a new lid mounted the fan back on to...

Sounds like it is overloading and tripping the circuit breaker (that thing that pops up). More than likely when the fan fell down it stopped the blade from turning which caused the motor to overheat, melting the windings insulation which caused them to short out which causes the circuit breaker to trip.

Sorry, you are going to have to get a new motor to go with the new lid.........

Switch turning ac off

Check the wiring of the fan motor and the compressor itself. There is some short circuit that trips off the circuit breaker or blows the fuses. Do the following isolation procedure:
  1. Disconnect the fan motor from the circuit then turn the ACU on.
  2. If the switch does not pop up then the fan motor is the culprit. The windings are probably damaged and shorted when the fan fell down. The fan motor bushing/bearing are most probably damaged and caused the rotor to touch the stator and eventually damaged the windings. In this case replacement of the fan motor is the key.
  3. If the switch still pops up, disconnect the compressor then run the fan motor.
  4. If the popping up of the switch disappears, replace the compressor. You may need the service of qualified appliance technician to do job.

Goodman CK60-1C model central AC unit blwing hot air

Clicking sound is the contactor engaging to start the outside unit. Check for a burnt off wire at the contactor. For some reason you are not getting power to the outside unit. If you find a burnt off wire shut off all power to it then remake the connection at the point of the circuit break.
