Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

HP 6110xi Message says Paper Jam: Clear jam and then press enter. I have found no jam whatsoever, even after taking the back pannel off and the paper out as well as lifting the hinged door up. Everytime I hit the enter button, the gear makes a noise like it is spinning against the drive gear and goes back to paper jam. This is true even if I turn the machine on and off and even unplug it.

Error message= open door clear carriage jam and

I think the message is instructions, as in
(1) open door (2) clear carriage jam (3) press enter
So there is something internal to the printer that makes it think it has a carriage jam, piece of paper under a sensor, dirty or stuck sensor.
If you can't find it using a bright light, try canned air.

Error Message - Paper Jam

I had a paper jam. I removed the offending sheet of paper which unfortunately tore into 4 pieces as it came out. Upon piecing the sheet of paper back together - there is a small piece missing. I've checked the printer thoroughly - nothing can be found!

6110xi paper jam, or something worse?

Actually, the "paper jam" message can be displayed due to a variety of jam locations and other causes. Starting by looking in the back of the printer is a good first step, but you can have a jam in the front or even in the automatic document feeder (although that one should be apparent because it's sticking out the front end.

HP.com has a web page that goes into a lot of detail about where to look for a paper jam and what other conditions in your product might cause such a message to occur. The solutions are available as well. Take a look here:

Paper Jam error

Try those solutions and post back your results. Good luck.

Open Door. Clear carriage jam, and then press Enter

Sounds like you have a jam. Open the back of the printer and checl for any paper large or small. If there is no paper, just opening the door and closing it may get rid of the message. All it takes is a piece of paper the diameter of a pea to send a signal that there is a paper jam. After yuou have finished close the door and push enter to let the printer know you are finished. See if this helps. I don't think it has anything to do with the ink cartridges. It sounds more like something stuck causing the jam. Be sure not to have anything like a staple attached to the paper you are printing on to. A speck of dirt could casue a jam message too.

The Non - Volatile memory of the printer needs to be Erased..

1. Turn the printer on.
2. Unplug the power cord on the back of the printer.
3. Press & hold # and 9 key simultaneosly while connecting the power cord on the back of the printer....Donnot release the keys for about 15 seconds after connecting power .
The turn the printer on If it turns off & follow the instruction......
If this will not resolve the printer needs to be serviced.
