does the drain pipe go UP 2' or so and and hook into the sink drain? It is possible that the drain hose still has water in it and when the pump stops gravity takes over and that water runs back down into the pump and that action also siphons some water out of the drain attachment at the sink.

Get a one-way drain vavle (tube with rubber flap inside) and install between sink attachment and drain hose.
