Our canon ir 2200 is great however in the last few days it has began to have pretty bad copy quality. Usually we are able to fix a similar problem (getting a line through random copies) by cleaning the areas around the narrow strip of glass to the left of the scanning glass. We are now getting copies with dark streaked areas at the top and bottom of the page on every copy, print and fax.
Most likely the fixing film needs to be replaced. A few years ago Canon made the fixing films available to authorized dealers. The film itself should only cost a few dollars. The other thing might be the Drum unit itself. They are not so cheap.Independent dealers and service agents are generally cheaper than say, Ikon or Danka
