Dropped c330 only half the screen visible now. Fix or toss? Won't send to garmin for $150 repair when I can purchase a new GPS for that amt.

Since I didn't hear from anyone, I contacted the co. I purchased from. I was advised to send it back.

Waking up your c330...

If you left your Garmin c330 on running the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off. Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET" button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery should come back to life. Cheers

You can buy a new C330 now for $125 - $175. It would probably cost that much to repair the old one, I would replace it.

Purchase an external antenna from Best Buy or on line from Garmin.

This doesn't fix Sitfar's problem, but for those how might find this helpful from Garmin's site: Question:  The touch screen is not responding correctly when I touch it. How can I recalibrate the screen?
Answer: To recalibrate the touch screen:

1. Turn the unit off.
2. With the unit off, touch and hold the Power button for 30 - 40 seconds.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Which GPS unit do you have? The C330 does not have PIN code capability. Did you send your unit to Garmin for repair? PIN codes are set by the user, not given by Garmin.

Given the cost of buying a new LCD with touchscreen is about $130 USD + shipping. Your best solution is to sell the existing unit and buy a new Nuvi or recondition C330.

Garmin will repair the unit for $150 and provide the lastest update and map.

Did you try to reset the unit? Place you thumbnail in the groove located under the Garmin logo on the face plate. Gently pull off the face plate. Press the reset button. Turn the unit back on and see if it works - Of course replace the face plate carefully. Good luck! Dr. Know

From your Where to?/View map screen press on the box wrench to access the settings menu. Once at the settings menu press Map, then press Map Info and you should see that you have City Navigator North America NT v8 or whichever one is loaded.
