Screen Goes Blank for about 5 seconds

When using my XBOX 360 with the Sharp Aquos 42" LC-42XD1E the screen randomly goes black for about 5 secounds, like it is refreshing. This only happens when using the 350 (on RGB), not the PS3 or Sky HD (both on HDMI). Resolution is 1080i. I have also spoken with another person with the same set-up who gets the exact same issue. Any advise? Thank you. Steve

Re: Screen Goes Blank for about 5 seconds

A friend and I both have the LC-32D64U Aquos sets with the same problem. Black screen for a few seconds with no video or sound. They came with firmware version S0804171.

Installing (reverting?) to firmware S0801101 on Sharp's website resolved these issues. Perhaps you need to update/switch firmware versions, especially if hardware replacement did not resolve the issue.

Re: Screen Goes Blank for about 5 seconds

Try and exchange this for the newer model since I think here was a recall.

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-C3234U TV. I can turn it on and than the screen goes black but the volume is fine. What can I do to fix it?

Check its back-light inverter board, and the voltage comes to it from the main power regulator board. To get some details, Pull up older posts.

Aquos screen blacks out with xbox 360 using Component Cables

Downloaded the updated firmware from the sharp website to a usb drive. Placed the drive in the TV and went to the update software option on the TV menu. Since the update, I no longer get the black-outs on the screen. I also put the resolution on the 360 back up to 1080p and it works great, even through the component cables.

Sharp aquos display comes on for a few seconds then blank screen

I have the same problem with my 37" HP which is the same as Sharp Aquos, it's bad backlight inverter boards, the screen comes on for a second then nothing, no menu, no channel change indicator then turn it off and you hear the clicking of the power supply about 10 seconds after.

Screen randomly flashes black

First and foremost you need to change one of two things. Either your video output settings on your xbox 360, or use an hdmi cable as opposed to component cables. Component cables are only designed to output video up to 1080i, not 1080p(big difference). So if you try to run a output signal of 1080p with cables only made to send 1080i, you will have picture issues.
