Electric or Gas?
If electric, the element is gone or a fuse blew or the airflow thru the dryer is restricted or a sensor is bad and 'lying' to the CPU. Check the filter, check the hoses for lint, check the outside vent flap to be sure it isn't stuck (possibly painted) closed. The air has to BLOW a certain CFM or neither ELEC or GAS type will turn on.
If Gas, the pilot isn't lit or the electronic ignition isn't firing or the gas supply valve is bad/stuck or the thermocouple that tells the CPU that the 'heat is on is 'lying' or the sensor that tells the CPU the Air movement is OK' is bad.
My dryer wouldnt heat because a thermocouple in the exhaust pipe was lying - stuck ON and telling the dryer it was already hot enough. ;-)
If you do the troubleshooting, do NOT forget to unplug first!

thanks for the info. I didn't give you a lot to go on. I took off the back cleaned it up & checked all connections I could find. Everything looked like it was where it should be. ( Like I would know, but I like to tinker) It's an electric dryer.
Is this an electric or a gas dryer??
