Kenmore Side by side unit has stopped working

The unit I believe stopped working during a power failure the other day and has stopped producing cold air for both the fridge and the freezer.

Unit is pushing air, condenser coils underneath were very dirty (they have been cleaned), unit is currently set to off (two dials on the fridge side, freezer and fridge temp controls) Already posted and got a response however I can't find a defrost control.

Earlier post ( http://www.fixya.com/support/t1867954-side_side_unit_not_working_both_sides ) Still need assistance.

Turn both dials to 5 and wait for an hour, when it first conmes on they go into a defrost automatically, the defrost controller isa in the upper left hand side of the refrigerator compartment and may be an adaptive technology one that is just a circiuiot board thats about 4 by 4 and behind the area thats betwqeen the back dammper and the front of the unit. It may have fried and that wopiuld explain why your frig does not work.,

Can you locate your model number inside the fresh food section around door frame? I believe you have the ice maker with the electronic eye and sounds like you need to follow these instructions so the ice maker works again. If I am wrong then please correct me by posting your model number that should look like this example=> 321.234567 Click Here=> Whirlpool Ice Maker Infrared Electronic Eye Technical Information I am here if you need to ask questions, Sea Breeze

Freezer stopped working

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary

Freezer not freezing

How old is the unit? Does it seem to have air circulating in freezer? Is the temp in the refrigerator side cold enough? One common thing is for the defrost heater to stop working which causes the freezer to ice up and stop circulating air. If you can put all items in a cooler and unplug the unit for several hours leaving the freezer door open. Plug it back in and see if it starts blowing frost again. That would indicate a bad defrost system. It can be several things but most common are the heating elements. If the defrost timer stops working you get the same results. If this does not produce positive results then it could be a weak compressor or gas leak. Best have a repairman check it or get a new one if it is the compressor.
