Question about Samsung Digimax A7 Digital Camera

Menu function not working

We've had this camera for over a year and use it fairly regularly but we use it more lately as we get more comfortable with it. Decided to try some more advanced features instead of just point and shoot but all of these are accessed through the MENU button. I can change modes on the top wheel from AUTO to SCENE or movies, etc. but I can't access the MENU functions or use the LCD or ASM buttons. Everything else seems to function fine. We take pics, download, and delete. We just came back from vacation and several hundred shots just fine but I can't get menu to work. I know it did once because I set the image size when we first got it. Could I have turned this button off at some point? Can I reboot the camera? I have read through the manual and have tried removing the batteries and reinserting them. Samsung's website takes me to a nonexistent website when I try to contact them for help. Is this thing dead?

Re: Menu function not working

Take the battery out for while and replace it, to see if it 'resets'. If it does not then there is something you are missing- check the software Cd- there is usually a more detailed manual in PDF format. Failing that perhaps it is sick- a repair would not be a economical thing I guess.

Hi, i have problem with my z650 , i`ve had bought lately new sd card (high capacity) and camera just doesnt detect that. Can i do anything or i just have to buy some specific old type one? thanks. Seb

Your camera is incompatible with SDHC cards.

As it's a hardware incompatibility your only fix is to get a regular SD card. Although you may be able to find one up to the maximum 4GB, stick to a maximum of 2GB as most SD compliant devices were never actually tested with 4GB cards and so they often don't work.

Go to camera Menu and select Initialize, OK.
Camera will turn on itself, if problem still exist, tap camera gently and turn On again to solve lens access problem.
Memory stick error can be solved by formatting it through Format menu in camera. Use another memory stick in camera to make sure that camera is OK.

Regular alkaline batteries (even new ones) often have trouble powering digital cameras which require a fairly high and sustained level of power output. Lithium ion batteries and NiMH rechargable batteries (maH > 2500) are better suited in this kind of device. Make sure you have the correct battery type selected in the Setup menu.
