No scan option when i try to scan a document

Please check if you are able to scan from software , i mean from hp director. If you can scan from Hp director , than click on start , go to run and than type "stimon.exe" and than hit enter, nothing will happen, just the screen will flash for 1 second, than press the scan button, see if that resolve the issue, but this will only work if you have windows XP

Make sure you have microsoft word installed i you computer.
But if you want to scan a document you can also scan it to HP Document Viewer.

First open solution center/HP Director and try to scan from document> then in the optin which says where do you want to send the scanned image> click on the drop down and check to see yu have the option of word> if yes select the option of word and try to scan.

If not Open HP Solution center/HP Director and go to settings> Scan settings> Scan to setup> Go to> Destination List> And click on Restore defaults and check to see if you have the option of word in the availabe list and front panel destination list> then click on apply ad ok and close all the windows and then try and check to see if you get the option of scan to word.
