Be sure the outside knob is unlocked before closing the door.
Schlage locks do not lock the inside knob or lever. After releasing the turn button, also turn the inside lever or knob, then check the outside knob.
What model of lock is this?

Have you tried taking the lockset apart and checking to see if you have a loose connection or maybe a pinched wire? Most electronic locks have sensitive wiring. Check that and see if that's the problem. If connectors loose then tighten it back up. If a pinch in the wire let me know. I'll help as much as I can.

maybe fob is damaged, and wont open with key as it may be worn , do you have a spare key to try.

Push the Lock button on outside touch pad to extend latch bolt 1" which locks the door when you leave.
Enter your desired personal code to retract the latch bolt completely which unlocks the door when you return home.
The T-turn on the inside of the door is used to extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt when you are inside.
Using the key from the outside will also extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt.
This Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt should be accompanied by a Kwikset Knobset, Leverset, or Handleset.

If you are not able to lock the door using the outside touch pad's lock button, you may need to reprogram the door's "handedness", which gives the lockset the ability to be used on doors that have their hinges on either the right or left side of the door (right-hand or left-hand door).
The instructions for that are found on Step 4.9. This is also an excellent time to change the batteries, which is recommended yearly.

Yes. even though most newer cars are equipped with "keyless entry", the good old standby of unlocking the door with a key still works.

Press and hold for 3 seconds the button on your wall control that has the lock icon.

It needs reprogramming. Contact Honda.

Yes, that is an issue.  My suggestion is to replace the outside keyless with a wired keyless (Domino GD-1).  This will get your batteries inside so they can stay warm.
