my HP Lightscribe DVD Rw 1040r is brand new when i put it in i put the jumpers to 2nd slv and burnt 3 movies, now it won't even burn a copy of my pics, when I put an install disk in it can't open it whats up with this thing?

could be defective or pull it out and change it from a slave to the main drive if it's the only one in the machine.
