What causes the vehicle to shut off as if it runs out gas?

It take 3 things to make a engine work and run properly.
1. Fuel
2.Fire or spark
3. Air

You need to check each of these and see which ones lacking.
Also these 3 need to be in proper timing.
The most common problem I see is a bad fuel pump, since most are electric these days and are in the fuel tank. Less often I find a bad coil pack, which creates the spark. The last is check your filters, both air and fuel filters. One diesel models I see dirty oil filters causing the engine to run poorly or shut off as the injectors run off oil pressure.

Battery light on my 2004 chevy trailblazer. It lasted a day then all the ABS breake light came on the the battery drained. The truck shut off. What could this be. I bought a brnad new battery 2 years ago.

The battery light comes on when there is an issue with the charging system. Most likley you have a bad alternator. With the engine running you should see a min. of 13.5 volts at the battery and better yet 14+ volts. If you have 12.5 or less than the alternator is not charging.

Once the vehicle is started the battery is no longer in play. The alternator is what keeps the power supply to the vehicle and recharges the battery for the next time you want to start the vehicle. Once battery voltage drops below 9 volts or so systems start to shut down. Eventually the battery will drain enough that the engine management system can no longer function and the vehicle will stall.

Refrigerator runs constantly -- shuts off 3X a day for about 30 mins. each time -- bottom freezer model BX 21VW -- bought in yr. 2000 --- Serial # 0008208852

Refrigerators shut off and on time depends on the outside temperature, and how often you open it according the temperature setting. Lower temperature setting would yield less turn off time and higher temp seting would yiel less running time and vise versa.

if that would not work try the next step
2. detach the power cable that is connected to the mother and plug it back in if that would not work try the lst step
3. check for the warranty and have the unit replced by the manufacturer

3 year old VUAR141 cools but only gets down to 16C at coldest setting(spec is 4 to 14 C)Compressor and cooling fan only run for approx 3 minutes then shut off for 20 minutes or more before restarting....

Those symptoms you describe indicate a compressor that is "short cycling", if it is indeed starting and running for those 3 minutes. Is the evaporator cold for those three minutes as well? Many times people think its running, then shutting off, when in fact it is only trying to start. Without proper tools you cant test compressor, but it might be worth finding out from a repair service if its the compressor or the compressor starter, the latter of which is much much less expensive.

Assuming the other motors on the cabinet are running, you've narrowed your problem down to 2 things, the compressor itself, or the start device has failed. Without the proper tools you wont be able to test the compressor first. My advice, go to repair clinic . com, see what a starter will cost you, if you can find a repairman to check your compressor for cheaper than what it costs to buy starter, well there you go. Either way, if its the compressor thats bad, you wont want to spend the money to replace, unless you have a built in worth several thousand, or physical constraints of kitchen prevent you from buying new fridge.

Top freezer quit freezing. Refrigerator works.

Good day,
Yes, the cold weather is the cause.
Your machine is cycled off and on by the thermostat located in the fresh food compartment. When the fresh food compartment is satisfied, it will shut off the entire machine.
Any temperature below 55 degrees will reduce running time until the freezer will not function, or at best poorly.
Engineers designed domestic refrigerators to balance properly between 70 and 95 degrees. It should be in your user manual.

Thank you for using FixYa

First things first - check to see if the compressor, big motor on bottom is running. That is the unit that is responsible for cooling. If not running check the start cap/relay.

Leveling refrigerator

In a Home the recommended level (front higher to back lower) is 1/4" (Right to Left - level)
Never less than in order to allow door to shut own their own, but there is nothing wrong with having a perfect level refrig if everyone closes the doors properly which they won't. A refrigerator requires to be reasonable leveled to avoid compressor fatigue. In a Motorhome people can't always find level ground, so it quite frequent that their refrigerator burns up when running. From that experience I'd say I would level any fridge which is over 1/2 inch off.
