Question about JVC AV-48WP74 48" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

No Picture / No Sound

I was watching TV when the TV let out one loud thump and then went black. I unplugged the TV for a while. When I powered back on all I get is a the flashing blue light of the power button. What could this be?

    hired repair tech for 300 to fix ic chip's installes 2x and still nothing was perfect after 2cnd... tech unplugged plugged heard a pop and click and now have a blinking power indicator... he says he will need $250 more to take tv into shop and it be 800-1000 to fix any suggestion.. jvc av 48wp74... is this worth pursuing or should I cut my losses?

What was happening before can put you close to what when out. If you had color problems or sound, or even picture going small. these are symptoms that causes the set to go out. If color look in the convergence area and look for blown fuses and bad resistors. If just went out the look at horizontal output transistor.

Well if it is DLP TV then crack/ pop sound was broken lamp in TV and if its another kind of TV as you did not mention its model and brand then have to check accordingly.

Picture started getting fuzzy then it went out


yes,remove the back of the tv,on the power board you will see the problem.replace those capacitors on the power board.this will allow the set to work.the black bars may still be there.this is an indication of a bad panel.

You can unplug the tv from the wall for 30 min. and plug it back in to see if this will fix it. If it dosen't a repair tech will need to fix it.

Tv went dead while viewing, will not power back up


You have a short somewhere in the load for the power supply. Probably the horizontal output transistor and the flyback transformer. You need to have it checked out by a tech. You may want to get an estimate. Stargazer
