Question about Hitachi 42EDT41 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

Hitachi 42EDT41 Had a major surge hit my house. Now my component input does not work, and my TV shuts off randomly. I also noticed white and blue pixels going on and off all over the TV while watching movies and playing games. Does anyone else have this problem as far as the pixels are concerned? Is this a serious issue? Should I start looking for a new set?

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board . In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Y Component Cable Related - Internal Static Noise

It sounds like one of those cables has a defective ground. The static noise you are experiencing is cause by the cables not inside the TV. Try using different cables to isolate the problem and get new ones.
Good Luck.

What cables go from my 55 inch hitachi tv to connect on the back of the dvd player . I have two monster cables red and blue together and three cables red blue and green together.

I have never herd of a red and blue combo but, The three, red, blue, and green are "component" cables. Hopefully your DVD player has a red, blue, adn green component out, not to be confused with red composite out. Composite cables are yellow, red and white, and, your tv has componenet in. The component cable will give you the best video quality. When installing make sure they are inserted all the way but twisting and wiggling or you will have a bluish, grenish, etc. picture. The composite cables give you the video only, so you will have to provide the audio. Audio can be achived using composite red and white or digital optical. If you second monster cable is red and white you can probably use those To go from "audio" red and white out on DVD to audio in red and white on tv. You must use the same audio input that corresponds to you video input.

No this didnt help at all, my samsung tv still turns out black and white, im not using a HDM1 cable im just trying to get the normal tv to work, i have noticed the tv only has the green, blue, and red...

As long as you can see that those ports on the back of you TV say input and not output then your compsit color code is White=audio, Red=audio, Yellow=video. It should work the green, blue, and red is just another type of component use. Good Luck!

I have a hitachi tv model 42edt41 year 2004,2005

I have the same tv and had the same problem. I found a posting that stated to re-solder a connection on the cable for the "y" boards. I used this and my tv is perfect now. The part that needs to be re-soldered is the ribbon cables at the bottom of the tv that go from the boards straight to the screen. On the inside of this ribbon cables there are 4 small components that have "100" on them. On each end of each of these pieces, re-solder them. Since I had my tv completely apart I re-soldered all of them across the bottom. No problems now!

My hitachi 42edt41 42in picture flickers

First. Try using a surge protector.
Could also try purchase a HDMI cable that is compatible with 100Hz,

Possible problems:
backlight inverter wearing out

Very Common In The Newer Tv Sets

Tv's have a chemical/molocules called phosphors that can be deentergized when a tv is left on for a long period of time. Not a serious problem but still annoying

Hitachi 42"

Its impossible to say without knowing more than that. If the TV does not detect any signal on whichever input (other than CATV) your on, it will power down. Make sure you are getting an input signal and make sure you are on the right input on the screen.

More info on your problem and i could probably help you better!
