i have a hollywood sound labs excursion 1080D subwoofer and need to know if a truck box is sufficient for it or if someone knows the dimensions for the right size of box. a manual would really help but it got lost by the dealer and they dont remember
Even though the 1080D is a discontinued model and not much support is available, I did find some information. It appears to be a good subwoofer.
10" Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer
80oz. Magnet (160oz. Motor Structure)
Composite Non-Pressed Kevlar/Pulp Cone
"DWS" (Patent Pending) Double Wide Surround
2" High Temperature Voice oil With Kapton Former
Designed for Small Vented and Sealed designs
Embossed Dustcap
300W RMS / 600W Peak Power Handling
New "EdgeTech" (Patent Pending) terminal design
Custom stamped steel "Dragon Claw" Basket
The "Designed for "Small Vented and Sealed designs" description would seem to say that it should perform adequately in a truck box. One of the Atrend boxes, either the sealed 10TK at .80 CuFt or the vented 10TKV at .88 CuFt, or a DIY box of similar size should perform OK. You might wish to add some polyfil stuffing to the box. Polyfil, one trade name is "Acoustistuff", will make the enclosure seem larger.
