This is a standard plug you should be able to get from radio shack or other electronic stores. just take a picture of where the connection is on the unit with your mobile phone and show it to the sales person. cheers, mark

I have a kenwood rc-r0504 remote control. It is a multipurpose remote. How do I get it to control a Technics SL-PD887 CD changer?

Unfortunately, the RC-R0504 remote is not a universal remote. It can only control some Kenwood cassette decks and CD players, in addition to the receiver or other audio hardware that it came with. Since it wasn't programmed with codes for other device, there's no way to make it control a Technics CD changer.

I wish that I had better news for you. You'll need a different type of remote or to use both the Kenwood and Technics remotes.

I need a replacement power cord for my Technics SL-pd987 5 CD changer. Know where I can get one?

There's probably nothing special about the original power cord, so I'd go to Radio Shack or any common electrical supply store and get it for around $8

Or you may have an unused one from other device lying around the house.

I have a model sl-pd847 and experience similar problems to many other submitters. I checked the main pcb and found discolouration around what appear to be 2 (power?) transistors and probably a voltage regulator. After about 4-5 minutes after switch on these get really hot. I suspect that may be the reason why it doesn't work anymore. Worth fixing? I don't think so. This one didn't even play CD-R let alone CD-RW! Get something a bit more up to date I say.

What CD types does the PD887 play (CD-R, CD+R, MP3 format)?

You will have to experiment on this unit. I have looked at the owners manual and it does not refer to ANY type of recordable media. Your unit may not be able to play any recorded media. That is why I suggest that you try -R first, then you may want to try a Audio CD, specifically made for audio.

Here is a link to your owners manual if you need it.

Disc stuck in cd player

Easy, turn off the power, remove the lid by unsrewing all the screws on the side, back and top of the lid. When removed you should see the CD jammed somewhere at the rear of the disk carrier. be very carefull and slowly remove it. The disk may be already scratched but if you're carefull you can stop further damage. Also don't force any part of the tray they are only plastic. If you can't get the disk out things start to get awkward. Write backmor take the unit with the lid off to a repair shop it shouldn't take them long to get it out.
