Blue Convergance Problem?

Okay this is the porblem. Set it about 3 yr.s old, turned it on the other night and there was blue shadows on the screen. Tried to adjust the convergance manually, but the little plus's would not move. The red one would. Anyway it sounded exactly like a problem posted by Cfgusmer1. So I tried the solution posted by leslake. I replaced the IC's. I ordered 2 of the STK392-110's. But when I got the set apart I discovered my set had 2 STK392-120's. I went ahead and replaced them with the 110's. I was very careful not to damage anything else and tagged all the connectors during removal. So I put it back together and fired it up. I got a faint picture that turned to bluish green and then went out completely after about 4 seconds. Does this everytime I power it up. Sometimes though I don't get the faint picture, just the colors sometimes with squiggly lines. I guess what I would like to know is can you use 110's instead of 120's? Because I don't know if its the wrong parts or maybe I didn't get something hooked back up correctly. Anyway now I can't watch the set at all. Would appreciate any advice.

Stk392-110 and the 120's are similar but the the 120's handle a higher current so when you replaced them with the lesser the amps not only blew again but the resistors that support the power handling also opened. this is a repair that a tech should handle.

I have a red and blue shadow in my picture

IT sounds like it needs to be degaused.
Before checking this, check for speakers placed by the set. this will cause it too.

The best way to avoid this situation is
  1. Don't place unshielded speakers near the set.
  2. Don't move the set while it is turned on.

The coil that is used is about $50 and can sometimes be found at industrial electronics stores. It's called a degausing coil. most TVs have a version of this built in and mutiple power on/off/ons may fix it, but don't hold your breath...

The trick is to turn the coil on with it right up to the screen. Move the coil in a big circular motion parallel to the screen as you S-L-O-W-L-Y move away from the screen. when you are as far away as you can get [about ten feet] turn the coil off. Caution. KEEP HARD DRIVES, CREDIT CARDS, AND FLOPPY DRIVES AWAY from the energized coil!

Good luck

Can't adjust blue lines on grid for convergance

I would take a look at the entire circuit board the STK chips are sitting on... I have the same problem with a sony KP-57wv700 and it turned out to be the high voltage controller for the crts got fried... part # BA9759F and it can not be replaced as the entire circuitry around it got toasted also... I just ordered entire circuit board. mine was the D board in this case...

BTW, did you check or replace the pico fuses? 3 orange ones on each STK circuitry. Check their resistance with an ohm gage should show continuity. My case they were 3.15 A each...
