Dell 1100mp "Temp" Light

The projector powers up for about a minute or two then shuts down and the "Temp" light will flicker 4 or 5 times. I first thought the fan was out, but I can hear and feel the fan blowing on startup.

I had the same problem and fixed it today. The fan is 70 x 70 x 20mm. I could not find the exact one, but 70 x 70 x 15 works just fine and I was able to find that fan at a Micro Center store for $8.99. The fans should be blowing air out from the front of the machine, not blowing in on the lamp.

This is a common problem with these projectors. There are actually 3 fans in the unit, 2 of which commonly fail. If you replace the fan with another one not exactly like it the unit will still shut down after a few minutes with a fan fail error. (blinking temperature light) I may be interested in purchasing your dead projector. Please email me at nalexandrov251 (aT)gmail.com and we might be able to work something out.

Where did you get the fan?

Posted on Mar 27, 2008

We have several of these projectors and this is a common problem. The cooling fan that directly cools the bulb dies. Since the warraty is expired on them we have gone through hell and back to get them fixed. We found a company that will fix them but no one will sell us the parts.

Wont start up

Hi,

Pls clean the filters and check the lamp by opening the lamp cover. If lamp looks okay in all aspects then send the projector to any engineer to check the ballast unit of the lamp.

Overheating

Hello,

Please clean the filters for the air and the air circulation path for cooling the lamp.

This will definitely work, pls also check that the condition of lamp is okay or not as sometimes lamp goes with the ballast unit of the lamp and that damages the new lamp.
