Question about Accton Refurbished CHEETAHHUB POWER-3008A 8PORT 10/100 HUB FACTORY BOX NO MANUAL (145308001)

Not making a connection to broadband router

I have a router with a network cable that I can connect to a pc and it works. when I connect the same cable through a CP3008a and a patch cable to the pc as I want to connect another pc to the broadband router through the CP3008a, the network connection is established (2 lights on cp3008a (100mpbs) and data transfer appears to be happening when the properties of the network connection are checked). Am I doing something wrong? If yes then what is the workaround?

Router has only one network port hence interst in use of hub till wireless router arrives. 2nd pc was not connected as could not demonstrate proof of use with the ist pc. Later in day I seemed to get the hub working okay by swapping the connections to different ports , I can only imagine it was something to do with lack of use for a couple of years as that was when the it was taken out of service.
Seems to be going now and has not missed a beat.
    Thanks for your comments

Hi, If I understand you right, you installed a hub after your router, all your PCS are connected to the hub and it is working. Then you should not be concerned, first, you did right, second, as long as it works and isn't slow or disconnecting then no issues. A few buts: 1. If your router has 4 ports, then you don't need the CP3008a and 2. why only "2 lights on cp3008a" if you have 2 PCS + the router, you should have 3 lights; At the end of the day,if it works and you have no complain, let it be. Kind regards.

How to resolve "Limited Or No Connectivity Errors" in Windows

When attempting to set up or make network connections on a Windows computer, you may encounter a Limited Or No Connectivity error message similar to the following:
Limited or no connectivity: The connection has limited or no connectivity. You might be unable to access the Internet or some network resources.

This message can result from any of several different technical glitches or configuration problems. Follow these steps to resolve Limited Or No Connectivity errors in Windows.
1. Determine whether your network access is functioning properly (that you can reach local network resources and the Internet). If you are using a broadband Internet and Windows XP Service Pack 2, this message is often a false error report. See Microsoft Knowledge Base article 892896 for details on how to work around this error appropriately.
2. If your network access is non-functional. continue to the following steps.
3. If your computer connects to the network through a broadband router , resetting (powering off and on) the router may resolve the issue. If not using a broadband router, or if resetting your router only temporarily resolves the issue and the error message re-appears later, continue to the following steps.
If connecting to your network using Wi-Fi and using wireless security, your WEP or other security key may not be set properly. Check the wireless security configuration on your computer's network adapter and update if it necessary.
4. If connecting to your network using an Ethernet cable, your cable may have failed. Temporarily replace your network cable with a new one to determine whether this resolves the issue.
5. If using a broadband router and DHCP on your network, check your computer's IP address to verify it is valid and not a private address that starts with 169.254. An invalid address of the form 169.254.x.x signifies your computer's inability to obtain a usable IP address from your router.
To resolve DHCP configuration problems, proceed to the following steps.
6. Reboot your computer, router (if present) and broadband modem together, then re-test your connection.
7. If your connection remains non-functional, run the Windows Network Repair utility on your computer.
8. If your connection remains non-functional, update your router settings to change from dynamic to static IP address configuration, and set an IP address on the computer appropriately.
9. If your connection remains non-functional, unplug your router and connect the computer directly to your broadband modem. If this configuration is functional, contact the manufacturer of your router for additional support.
10. If your computer is connecting to your network directly through a broadband modem, or if your Internet access remains non-functional after following the instructions above, contact your Internet provider for support.

WIFI not working with Linksys wireless-g broadband router/Comcast

Unplugging the wireless router and connecting it again should not have altered the wireless connection/configuration. You have connected the cables correctly because the Internet works when you connect a LAN cable to the router.
The Linksys wireless configuration or the wireless card configuration in the computer was changed it to lose the wireless connection. The wireless card configuration needs to be changed to match the wireless router's settings or change the Linksys with new configuration settings and configure the wireless card accordingly.
To secure your router with a login password and wireless security, please follow my instructions - click on this link :-

Router connection problem

you will not see your router in any of the places you looked.
Easiest method:
Shutdown your PC and laptops. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC and laptops. The PC and laptops should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider.

DIR-300 router and broadband ISP connection,is NAT possible?

With a cable broadband connection, the cable line comes into the cable modem. The cable modem does the work changing the cable signal to a network connection and sends an I.P. address to the computer. With some cable internet providers you can hook the network cable into the in port on a router, wireless or wired, then hook up computers to the router. At this point the router gets the IP from cable and uses it's own IP routing for your internal network. Some broadband providers control your access by the computers mac address which registers with the vendor. If this is the case then the easy way to make it work is to get a router which can clone a mac address so the vendor still sees the same mac address.

USB Broadband to wireless router through desktop PC

If I get you right you are useing a 3g Internet connection and have a router wich conets the 2 computers together, the problem is that you can't share the internet connection.
Without any information about the operateing systems I can tell you the idea:
First you need to disable DHCP server on the router and use static IP addresses on both PC, the IP address should be something like

Network mask:

Network mask:
Default gateway:

In this IP configuration above PC1 has the 3g modem connected.
This was the easy part, hard part is to share the internet connection on the network, that's a little different ritual on every operateing system, try to use google to get your specific one.

However there's a much more easier way to solve all your problems if you can't make it work, but it costs money. All you need to buy is a 3G router and that will do the same thing for you what your old router did.
I did a little search for you on Australian Ebay to see what you can get.
But I'm sure you have your own cheapbfavourite source of computer hardware as well.

Hope this will help you sorting out your porblem.

Setting Up a Wireless Network

You can still use your existing Linksys router with your cable modem. In fact the router your have is designed to work with DSL/Cable Broadband connections.

1. Make sure to properly connec the devices in your network. Modem will be connected to the Internet port of the router. Then, laptop will be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports of the router. For initial setup of your router with modem, you need to hardwire laptop to the router.
2. Press and hold reset at the back of the router for about 15 seconds.
3. After 15 seconds turn off the router and then turn off the modem. Wait for a minute.
4. Power on modem and wait for the lights to be ready.
5. When modem lights are on, turn on router.
6. There should be 4 lights on. Power should be steady green. Internet, WLAN and Ethernet port.
7. Checked if you have Internet connectivity on your laptop while it is wired to the router.
8. If Internet is working, disconnect laptop from wired connection to the router and check available wireless network that laptop can detect.
9. The default wireless network name that the Linksys router broadcasts is "linksys". Connect to it which is an unsecured wireless network.
10. Once you are successfully connected, check Internet.

Hope this helps!

yes it is possible: if u are trying to get broadband on all 3 pc's then go for WIFI if ur router in wifi enabled ...
If u are trying to setup a network b/w 3 pc's then u will have to get a networking hub .
Network can established b/w two pc;s by connecting the with simple ethernet cable known as a CAT cable or LAN cable and making a bridge between the two computers but in order to establish a network b/w 3 pc's then u will have to get a network hub which will support many connections at one time.
