Ge eterna series fridge side not working

Look in the floor of the freezer and if you see ice you have a stopped up drain.

Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing thencheck out the last two tips.

I've got the same problem...have de-thawed everything, (this was how we fixed it before) and still can't get water to dispense. Guess another 75 bucks service call...urgggg...

Same thing with our GE Eterna Series - off and on for the last two weeks. Took back panel off, looked around, vacuumed dust build up off of the fan blades, etc.; everything worked fine for five good days. Then frig went out stopped cooling. Off and on for the last week. Unplugging it works for a day then back to not freezing and or colling.

If this is struggling to maintain temperature like this, either the system is low on gas (motor running all the time) or the fan has stopped which you should be able to hear. Make sure that the fan is not just jammed.also check the return air vent in the fridge as if this gets stuck with a spillage ie O.J. etc, the fridge cannot get air from the freezer and the freezer runs continually (-30) but the thermostat never cuts out in the fridge. Last idea most likely.

Defroster circuit/timer has failed.

The water line to the icemaker has probably frozen,so no ice. The cooling coils are in the freezer, and the cold air moves to the fridge via vents and circulation fan.

When it all ices up, no air gets to fridge, fridge gets warm.

Many models have a mechanical defroster timer located under the lower front kick panel. Manually rotate the timer until you hear the compressor stop.

Defroster heater then should come on and you hear scorch/hiss/gurgle of defrost sounds. If the timer is working, the fridge should come back on after about a half hour or so.

Sometimes timer fails, sometimes heater element fails. There is also a defrost thermostat that's part of the heater assembly.

Generaly the control board controls everything sometimes you have a bad thermister GE has a help line I beleive it costs 20.00 bucks but you will need a meter and know how to use it and they willl talk you thru the repair .

most likely you have a def system failure. look in teh freezer compartment at teh back wall and you'll probably see frost build up the cover. the most common culprit for ge refrigs is bad def heaters. its very easy to tell by removing the rear cover melting the frost out wiht a hair dryer. then you will see either 1 or 2 glass rods with springs in them those are your heates if 1 or both of the heaters are burnt looking then you need to repl them. good luck peyton
