Re: continually spinning

Indesits dont have carbon brushes they have a module which controls everything to your tomer if this is faulty or your timer then its not worth doing too much in money to replace get a hoover or candy same machine just ones the uk model and the other is the us model dont go for hotpoint though because indesit own hotpoint now and there changing the carbon brushes to modules which is a big mistake alot dearer to replace then the carbon brushes but maybe thats why there doing so customers have to buy another washer check the price by going to indesit customer support web site but i always keep customers away from indesit due to that module some hotpoints are still the carbons but some arent cheaper to buy a slight damaged from a washer repay shop they usually have damaged at a fraction of the price save at least £125 per washer or buy a repossed one may off been used at the most 10 times nothing wrong with them and you will save £200 plus m8

HOOVER VHD814 FITTED WITH AN Acc motor which has recently had genuine brushes fitted. Stops before final spin and didn't drain. Now when you set to spin or indeed any programme at makes a whirring noise...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Hotpoint WMA35

Remove lower rear cover of washer, remove belt, undo 2 screws securing motor, remove motor wiring plug,, lever back motor and remove motor.

Remove carbon brushes at end of motor, and check for wear, if less than 8-10mm long, then replace them.
Clean armature with emery cloth or sandpaper before fitting new brushes, if it still does not work then the motor is probably faulty.
Plz rate my solution.

Bosch WFL2450 Washing Machine wont spin cycle

Hi there, this problem sounds as though the carbon brushes are needing replaced or infact just needing to be cleaned of dust or dirt. Its very common for the brushes to be covered in dust and fibres. Im not sure where the brushes will be on this model but I hope this helps you in someway.

Check the water level pressure chamber for a partial blockage, this can cause all sorts of problems.

Hotpoint WMA50p won't spin

Had same problem today with our machine. Brushes looked OK (although one appeared a little shorter than the other).
After removing and re-fitting the brushes, motor worked fine - suggesting that it was the brushes afterall.

Now looking for replacement brushes

Electrical module fault
The “Spin Speed” indicator and the “Start
option are flashing and an audible tone
sounds. The display shows “F4” to “F16”.
Switch off the appliance. Select a programme
and press the “Start/Pause” button once
The programme will continue.
If the fault re-occurs, contact After Sales
Service (see “After-Sales Service”).
