I just upgraded to Win. Vista, and have not been able to find drivers that are compatible with Vista. Canon says they have not and may not make them....are there any other options out there??

need canon imageclass mf5550 printer driver for windows vista. Check everywhere I know to get a type of fix and no cigar. Hard to believe that they do not have one. Can someone help? Thanks.

Same issue can not find a ImageClass MF5500 driver for Vista. Has anyone contacted Cannon?

No print driver for Vista/Canon MF5550

    same issue

  • Anonymous Aug 18, 2008

I bought a new computer with Vista, found drivers on the factory sites for everything EXCEPT for my CFanon MF5500. Clearly, servicing customers is not Canon's priority. More clearly, this customer won't fatten their bottom line anymore, even if I believe they have a superior product. What good is it to own a limousine, if you can't find a driver?

I have the same problem. Is there any fixes exist?

  • ninelvic Oct 27, 2008

yeah, i have the same issue with ONE of my laptops. strangely enough, one of my toshiba laptops with vista (the older one) can easily print but a new one that i just got says that it can't find the driver. is it the different version of vista or did i get lucky with my old computer and somehow made it work?

  • Anonymous Dec 18, 2008

same problem. Just called Canon support, in nutshell they said "Tough"!

  • fuck nicknam Feb 05, 2009

I bought a new Vista operating system computer and now cannot use my Canon MF5500. I let the computer sit for a year because nothing worked. A year later I found drivers for most of my peripherials but not the Canon. I will never buy a new Micro Soft product for the first two years again and this is my last Cannon product. Patiently lookng for a driver.

  • BLNorthJr Mar 15, 2009

I paid $500 for this Canon MF5550 Image Class multifunction machine. It still works fine, but Canon will not provide drivers for it to work with Windows Vista which is in all the new computers. This is unconscionable as Canon, like all of us, knows that Windows programs change every two/'three years. They know that they have abandoned us so we can not use the machine that we paid them for.THIS IS REALLY BAD FAITH. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER CANON MACHINE IF THEY WILL NOT SUPPORT THEIR PRODUCTS.

Cannon customer service is no good however i got this mf 5550 and had change to windows vista and im printing with no problem
i tried this better and it works
shut off your computer
disconnect the usb cable to the computer from the printer
a wait 5 minutes connect the usb cable tot he computer from your printer and turn your computer again.
this is what i had done with my desktop and laptop and luckily it works.
buying a cannon product is good but if you got some issue your on your own

Had the same issue. When I contacted Canon they stated that they are not devoting resources to creating new drivers for older hardware. Interestingly in talking to others with HP printers - it seems that much older printers seem to have new drivers that work with Vista.

After all of this I have decided to buy from a different manufacturer (HP) next time around.

If cannon somehow can only have time to work on newer drivers and not concentrate on the imageCLASS MF5550 vista driver, I will never buy a cannon product again "ever"

Called and emailed canon to complain. they said in email that they will let the "higher-ups" know my concerns but as of yet they have decided to not look into making vista drivers so they can concentrate on newer machines.

Sadly if printer manufacturer doesnt support Vista then you are out of luck. Sometimes if a printer has a big userbase, for example design studios or printing firms. Then a 3rd party might produce unofficial drivers. I have had a look but cannot see anywhere that are offering Vista drivers.

Base system missing

Is this in Device Manager? Did you notice this after the Win 7 upgrade? If so , it's a common problen when upgrading, Is that the only issue? Your Card Reader work? Modem? Co-processor? I have a HP Pavilion DV9320us I loaded Win 7 64bit Ultimate on with similar issues, modem, co-processor, card reader, etc. Use the Win Vista drivers, modify the drivers for Win 7. HP drivers found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=ca&dlc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001&lc=en&product=3548477& AND change compatibility of drivers , This will give you the general idea: http://www.techsupportforum.com/4478-installing-a-device-driver-under-compatibility-mode-in-windows-7/

Hi I have philips pc camera sic4750 I bought, I could not download throught the cd that came with it thanks

Philips PC Camera SIC4750 is only compatible with OS Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 2000 & Win XP. (Only 32Bit system ie x86)

FAQ from Philips (Ref. Link)
Question: Can I use my webcam with Windows 7 or Vista ?
Answer:- At the time this webcam was designed, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems did not exist yet. Unfortunately, the internal hardware of the webcam does not match the requirements of these operating systems. Therefore we cannot provide a software upgrade (driver upgrade) to support Windows Vista or Windows 7. We apologize that we are not able to support you in this matter.

Too bad Philip do not provide the drivers if your are Using Vista or Win 7 or any x64Bit system.

No Windows 7 driver for a Canon F80

Good idea, Windows 7 is NO good if your equipment is less than a few months old... Pre 2008 stuff just isn't compatible. IMHO Win 7 is OK for brand new stuff, Otherwise I stick to XP... see everything works with XP..or nearly so.

Canon MP500 all in one printer is not compatible with Windows Vista. Is there a solution for this problem, or do I need to buy a different printer?

My Canon PIXMA MP500, purchased in mid-2006, came with the (then) ScanSoft OmniPage SE2 software on a CD. The PC had WinXP Installed. I had no use for the ScanSoft it so I made no effort to install it.
Fast Forward:
Two PC crashes later, July 2009. Using Win Vista Home Premium
LOST, important WinWord document file, only a hard copy available.
I tried to recover, scanning the "Xerox" copy. The SE Version of OmniPage was very complicated but I succeeded in producing a replacement *.doc file.

It appears that newer editions of WinVista contain the right printer drivers for this Canon Model.

Can not install on windows vista basic

I am not sure of your question. Lexmark model x83 has drivers only for Win Xp and  Win 2,000.    Unless they. Lexmark elect to have their software people write or develop a driver for Win VISTA for this model printer ,no one else ever will. Maybe call or write to them.  Their is a 20% off printer upgrade offer on a VISTA compatable printer.
Your other option is to downgrade to WIndows Xp. I personally see no advantages to  VISTA , at least for me. Xp is much faster.

I bought a new computer window vista and i have a flat bed scanner from canon a n650u/n656u and it worked fine with my windows xp but i need an up date driver for it to work with vista can you help me

According to Canon, the CanoScan N650u/N656U is not compatible with Windows Vista.  They have not released a compatible driver.  You could attempt to use a different driver, but that causes the system to become unstable and crash often, if it works at all.  I recommend upgrading to a Vista-compatible scanner.

Canon pixma500

This product can be used with Windows Vista.
  • To use it with Windows Vista, you must install the driver software for Windows Vista.
  • The Windows XP drivers for your product cannot be used under Windows Vista.
  • Easy-WebPrint and PhotoRecord do not support Windows Vista.
Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista :
Before upgrading your OS from Windows XP to Windows Vista, delete / uninstall all the Windows XP driver software first; then, upgrade the OS to Windows Vista and install Vista driver software.
If you have already upgraded your computer's OS to Windows Vista :
Delete / uninstall the Windows XP drivers before installing Vista drivers.

I hope it helps!!!
