Distorted picture Are RCA HDTV 52" MDL # D52W23 has a bowed picture with red, blue, and green lines at the top The picture is bowed in from all 4 sides. We changed the convergence board and same problem. we do not have the convergnce option in our setup menu. We think it might be the FL231 fuse problem but we don't know where it is located or where to buy it.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. I had the same problem with my RCA D52W23. I change out the convergence board and the 2nd fuse the one near the flyback. After getting TV back together picture was good except white backgrounds looked washed out with greenest at the edges. I called cable company and they came out fixed my cable line with was dropping and gave me a new HDTV box which was the newest one. That fixed my problems.

red, green, and blue lines curve across the top of tv is cause by defective convergence STK IC or you have open resistor at convergence section. if you have defective RGB Color vertical ramp probably you have defective STK IC..

Focus and screen control box / remove front bottom panel there you will find it / it has 3 controls on top 3 on bottom top are focus for RGB tubes bottom controls adjust screen drives for RGB.

check for cold solder joints around the flyback transformer and a open pico type fuse very close to it. they are rectangle in shape and ususually the one in the middle of the three is the culprit. The problem is in the pincushion circuit

you will have to take it to a rca qualified service shop , the parts needed can only be obtained by these type of tv service centers
